Guys,

For my HTPC im looking for a quiet psu and heatsink fan.

Both must be reasonably priced, will spend 50 on psu and 25 on hsf.

Preferably a psu with a 12cm fan for silent cooling and the hsf must fit a standard p4 2.53.

Cheers

Seasonic S12 is dead quiet (just purchased 430W for my HTPC this week) you really have to be within 2 inches or so to hear it, it's that quiet, spins around 700rpm. Although it doesn't shift much air. Dunno about P4 coolers.

We will need size constraints with the heatsink. Scythe ninja wins if it fits.

If it is just the fan for the heatsink, there are good akasa ones, a search would bring answers quickly to you.

Seasonic S12 430w, got one for £40 and it is completely silent while powering a 3.6ghz pentium D (805, 1ghz OC) and a fairly moderate system otherwise.

What motherboard and case are you using? will make it easier to find a cooler

case is going to be a silvertek lc17

motherboard is an abit it7 max2 rev1

Silverstone lc17?

Basically a normal case on it's side, a freezer 4 should fit and they are only about £12

aye, silverstone, dont know where i got silvertek from..

how quiet is the freezer 4?

run it at 70% with speed fan or @ 7v on a fan controller and it is completely silent and should be plenty to keep a 2.53 cool

Go for the Ninja if you want the best heatsink for extremely low airflow / passive running.

I also agree with the choice of the seasonic S12

The antec Neo He is another option
