Quietest case fans

Which silent eagle do you have?

Is the 120mm 2000 model much louder than the 1000 model??? I also read that these fans cant run on reduced volts! they just stay the same??? Is this true do you know?

Nice to see ocuk stocking papst fans again. I'm a fan of the 4412 GLLs.

Am I missing something with the DustPROOFs? From the specs they don't really jump out at me for the price.

Agreed . Even though the Dustproofs may appear expensive they do what it says on the tin :D

Plus the choice of the 12 , 7 or 5V connections as supplied is always welcome. They get my vote especially when used with the rubber arrowhead mounts. ;)

I've got the Akasa Ambers and they are very quiet at 12v and push a lot of air. I run them at 7v and cannot hear them at all.

any 1 here tried the Coolink SWiF-801 80mm & Coolink SWiF-1201 120mm

are they quiet ?

Ya I would like to know this too please if anyone can give some feedback on the Coolink SWiF-1201.

I am torn between the Acoustifan Dustproof Quiet and the Coolink SWif-1201.

I like the 3 fan setting options the Acoustifan provides, However I also like the 2 Options on the Coolink because the lower speed in specs is 1.0dBA Lower than the Acoustifan and also It has a fan controller for a spare PCI slot.

I just dunno what the best is to go for:

5v - 25.2CFM - 10.0dBA - 675RPM
OR
7.5v - 22.2CFM - 9.0 dBA - 700RPM

I still have to look into if my MSI RDA480 Neo2 can support the Acoustifan with it being only 3 Pin (Coolink has both 3pin and 4pin) although i suppose I could use a convertor maybe?

BTW this will be for my computer I use in my front room which is on almost all the time and mainly used for making music (Hence noise being a big issue) and the CPU inside is an AMD 64 x2 4800+ which I have next to browse for a heatsink and fan also with very low noise as I don't think my stock AMD 64 3000+ fan will work on the x2 4800+ and also it is too noisey if I am forced to buy a new one.

I just hope the low noise settings will also push enough air to keep the x2 4800+ cool enough (it won't be overclocked)?

I was going to get hold of a couple of the Sharkoon 1000 fans for my PC7+, not sure now. The DustProof look good from the specs, but expensive.

urm people people people i think you are missing one vital manufacturer to this Yateloon anyone? i have 4 of these puppie's (orange revision) and they are just incredible

I have tried all of the fans every poster has mentioned above, and for me the 2 most silent fans giving decent airflow at 12v are the Scythe S-Flex 800rpm fan and the Noctua 800rpm fan. They are virtually silent like the Nexus or Sharkoons (possibly quieter) but give better airflow. The Noctua in my opinion is the best of them all. SilentPCReview concur in their latest roundup of 120mm fans.

The YateLoons,Ambers,Dustproofs need to be volt modded in my opinion for acceptable noise levels, and very often volt modding a fan can result in the fan clicking.

AC 12PWM - but you need to have a PWM controller either on your motherboard (Gigabyte S3/DS3/DS4/DQ6) or a PWM fan controller. Very, very quiet as it's not actually spinning most of the time ;)

Think i'm going to give the Scythe S-Flex a go, they favored well in the Silent PC review and look decent for the money. Only thing is the case i was after is now out of stock, typical. :(

I've just put a couple Sharkoon Silent Eagle 1000's in a V600. Very very quiet - almost inaudible in fact. Highly recommend these. I've got 3 S-Flex 1200's as well that are sitting in a V1000 Plus II, but I'm stil waiting on other bits before I power it up. Will be interesting to see how they compare though. The Scythes are nearly twice as much, but they do push more air. :)

Just when i make my mind up, someone comes along and throws me off my decision ;)

Let us know what the S-Flex are like if you get it set up, also anyone know if the Acousti Ultra-Soft Arrowhead will fit the S-Flex or Sharkoon?

Sorry for the slight hijack, but what would the answer be if the same question was applied to the 80mm case fan range?

I thought it would be the Akasa Amber 80mm, but it seems to "rattle" a bit, is this most likely my case or the fan itself?

I think the Ambers (120mm and 80mm) are all too noisy for a quiet pc unless you volt mod them (then they click). I hate the 80mm ones. They are noisy.

The quietest 80mm case fan and smoothest sounding I have ever heard is the Nexus one. The silentX version was probably quieter but pushed absolutely no air whatsoever. I don't have that much experience with 80mm fans though, so there might be others who can give you a better answer.

Well i've just removed it from my case and I have it running on the desk. It's nowhere near as annoying as it was before, so i'm guessing the case is at least contributing to the noise.

What do you think i should try?

Well you could try isolating the fan from the case. Something like ultra soft fanmounts.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FG-001-AF

However it could very well be that their is turbulence being caused by the proximity of your fan to the actual fan grille. You could try cutting out the fan grille

Or if it was me I would just invest in a quiet 80mm fan (Nexus), or maybe buy a cheap ass fan controller to lower your fan speed, or cheapest of the lot, just volt mod the fan to 7v. Free. There are plenty of guides out there if you google.

yup, they fit the S-Flex just fine.... need a fair bit of pulling, and you think you are going to break them, but they are tough and stretch a LOT, as a result they have a nice tight fit.

Cool cheers. Just ordered my new case, so will probably order the S-Flex and Arrowheads next week. Should hopefully make the case pretty quiet but still have decent airflow.
