Quitting caffeine

Caffeine doesnt have that much affect on me, some days I drink 4-5 cups with some energy drinks(Sugar Free) and other days nothing and it has no affect on me at all other than a temporary buzz which goes fairly quickly. :D

I drink 1 coffee most days, 2 very very occasionally. Other than that I drink water and green tea.

If I don't have them for a few days, like if I am on holiday or whatever, it doesn't bother me at all.

There is a big difference between sucrose and fructose. Of course, always check the label because most supermarket juices are indeed added (cane) sugar. Freshly squeezed no additives, rock on.

Agreed there is a difference (it's subtle, but significant) - ideally you want the fibrous material that comes with fresh fruits as well.

I feel for you guys with caffeine addictions, I hate coffee, or any hot drink for that matter, and never been addicted to caffeine, it makes me go a bit strange to be honest, hence why I don't drink much Coke lol

No easy way out OP

You have to go cold turkey. You will feel a lot better for it, trust me on that one. You feel trashy to start off with but then you have much more energy without the caffeine.

I quit caffeine entirely for nearly 2 years didn't touch a drop, now I tend to drink the odd cup of matcha green tea every few days or so If I feel like I need a pick me up.

The caffeine works differently in matcha green tea though, maybe some health nuts could explain it better but it's not comparable to drinking a cup of coffee entirely (Something to with theanine in it I read it ages ago but i've forgotten).

Buy matcha green tea and try drinking that. It's good for you as well.

That's quite a lot, spend a lot of time going to the loo ?

That doesn't seem a lot to me - around what I drink tbh, and I'm stuck at a desk all day! 2 coffees in the morning, 4-5 biggish glasses of water during the day, and 2-3 pints of water during the evening, saying that, I get really thirsty as I break into a sweat if its hotter than ~18 degrees, but work in an office where 23 is considered "cold"...

I drank 5-10 cups of coffee daily for years. Before christmas it started making me feel horrific and nauseated after every sip, still no idea why but I had to give it up instantly. Didn't experience any withdrawal symptoms  and feel much better now that I'm off it.

I looked up my symptoms on Google when it was making me sick, it seems quite common for people to develop adverse reactions to coffee after years. Might've just been dehydration due to the large quantities...

Good luck coming off it, you'll notice a difference.

Ideally you should eat your fruit rather than juicing it.

Don't disagree

Please do inform me on your Advance physiology... As I'm sure you have studied it at a higher level than anyone on the forum.

I obviously do not have a degree in advanced physiology - I do have qualifications in nutrition and my circle of influence is based around diet and nutrition (gym related) for the last 10+ years.

It is far more efficient for your body to receive hydration via water. 2L is not excessive, and besides it is better to slightly drink above your allowance than below. Besides, you get such a small amount from foods.

Ultimately as a rough guide your urine should be 1-2 on the list below:

If not then you need to drink more. IT's a good guide. Of course if you have any other issues you need to speak to your doctor. I tell people that I offer training/advice to, to keep a log of their nutrition and water intake, well over 70% of people I've dealt with are dehydrated.

I personally prefer and recommend water, of course you can receive your hydration from other liquids (but I don't like fizzy drinks or drinking shed loads of caffeine), and yes fruits and vegetables - but you need a LOT of those, and frankly its daft to consider food as part of your hydration.

I'd disagree with this personally. There are far too many exceptions to that to class it as "daft".

I mean in that you should be concentrating on drinking fluids over relying on getting hydration from food. It's easier to drink some water/drink than it is to stuff a whole lettuce down you ;)

It is but it is also safer in large parts of the world to get hydration from fruits over local water supplies and we are also all started off getting our hydration from food and not water! Therefore, I felt it was maybe harsh to say it's daft. We don't often think how lucky we are all now to actually have clean water that wasn't always the case hence why traditionally people tended to not drink water.

I thought we were talking about the UK?

Of course other parts of the world rely on fruits, heck a water melon, and coconut muilk is a great way of getting pure good quality hydration. In fact when I spend time in the Middle East or Asia I eat shed load of fruits - but... I drink a lot of water/liquids too - but there's a lot of me and I like being hydrated it energises me. :)

I gave up on caffeine due to heart palpitations, I'm probably really sensitive to it as even a cup of green tea would raise my heart rate a fair bit and give me palpitations.

Not eating chocolate is the worst part

I never saw anyone say it was specific to the UK - sorry my mistake then not to notice that but even with that then I'd say an awful lot of people come here from other parts of the world.

I wouldn't think twice of including fluid from food into what I would expect to need, fluid wise, over a day. I just felt it was too dismissive.
