Which Christmas decoration was banned by churches in England?
I'm going to guess it's the Christmas tree - the Bible says you shouldn't decorate trees. I can't get the quote or back this up without googling, but I definitely read this only a few days ago.
How many gifts would you receive if you received all the gifts in the Twelve Days Of Christmas song?

364. Someone told me it was 365 (one, of course, for each day of the year) but I tried it and only got 364.

Jeremiah 10:2 (KJV) Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. 3* For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. 4* They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.

If that makes any sense. However, can't find anything about it being banned in English churches (tho trees are banned in US churches without sprinklers). Have found the correct answer, but won't spoil it :)

Sausage Snatcher is one of the Yuletide lads (13 of them visit in the run up to xmas), each of them play pranks (generally based on their name). Icelandic tradition is that the kids leave a shoe in the window, and the Yuletide lad of that day leaves a small present in it.

MISTLETOE & THE HOLY BOUGH
Many people assume that Mistletoe is used because of its Druidical associations. And because people kiss under the mistletoe, it is assumed it is because it was a fertility plant.

In fact neither of these reasons is directly related to the use of Mistletoe as a Christmas decoration.

.....

When the Parliamentarians and Puritans under Oliver Cromwell banned Christmas and all its associations, these Holy Boughs were banned too.

I *think* [After reading most of that article] that a Holy Bough is the name of the decoration and it could be made using different foliage from many evergreen plants/bushes etc..
