R.I.P Coolio

Rap artists don't seem to live long lives.
The 1980s old skoolers do, De La Soul are still about creating music for example. A Tribe Called Quest too and many others! Arguably these artists are the OGs of rap and hip hop. They made way for the rap generation of the 90s to kick start the mainstream rap revolution.

I saw Coolio perform at Staffs Uni (Stafford) at the 1999 May Ball. Back in the days when we used to call it a ball and not a prom! Famous for Gangsta's Paradise in 1995, then Too Hot and 1-2-3-4 (get your woman on the floor) in 1996. Great musician. RIP.

This news surprised me because for some reason I thought he was already dead. Not sure why I thought that though.

I remember seeing Coolio many many moons ago after his Big Brother stint at our local nightclub. That night he was bottle off stage and members of his entourage got into quite the scuffle with half the crowd. Not a proud night for our town for sure. RIP!
He was kicked off BB for aggressive behaviour

Gangsters paradise was 1995.

what, 27 years ago?

Man NOW I feel old.

Scary looking back at times isn't it. I can still remember all the talk of that film like it was just last week. It's like where the hell did the time go? Feels so long ago yet it's almost as clear as yesterday.

That same year was Die Hard with a Vengeance.

Then the following year it was Independence Day that was the summer blockbuster alongside Robert Miles, Children. Who is also gone.

I hadn't realised that Robert Miles had gone! :(

His Children was epic.

Feels like at times or it feels that way, most of the last decade has been constant death. First starting in 2011 with Steve Jobs.

Gangsters Paradise was the only song I knew of his, but it was a good song.

RIP sad to hear this as was still too young. Like you one of the only real songs I knew from him and love and own from the movie Dangerous Minds which was an ace movie and one my favourites. I remember seeing an interview with him back then and he seemed a really nice guy with a very sensible head on him.

That's quite young. RIP. I remember the aforementioned song too. I quite liked it back in the day I recall.
Still a great song today, for sure a classic that will be remembered for a long time and redone many different ways. The beat was great to it, he could have sang anything to it and would have been a hit, but the lyrics really made it memorable and a classic to go with a iconic movie too.

Coming from a person that is not really a fan of rap music but like with every genre of music there is that magical gem and this to me was one of them for the rap genre.
