R.I.P Coolio

Still a great song today, for sure a classic that will be remembered for a long time and redone many different ways. The beat was great to it, he could have sang anything to it and would have been a hit, but the lyrics really made it memorable and a classic to go with a iconic movie too.

Coming from a person that is not really a fan of rap music but like with every genre of music there is that magical gem and this to me was one of them for the rap genre.

It was never my genre but a lot of these artists produced some really good Rap, RnB stuff I normally would never have looked into. But there was a distinct sound from some of them. Or the fact that sound was during the same time as 90s summers.

Then of course there is the tie and relation of music that was produced for some films that seems to pull you in even more.

Not normally my type of music but liked Ganstas Paradise and C U When U Get There - RIP Coolio

I remember him being big in the 90s when I was at school but I couldn't name more than one of his songs.

When i was 14, my friend CJ was macheted to death outside our school in 1995, Coolio was his favourite artist and somehow Coolio heard about it, probably through his UK management and sent the biggest bouquet of flowers I’ve ever seen with a handwritten letter to CJ’s mum, Lynn, commiserating her for her loss and how he was thinking of CJ. Thought that was very nice.

Coolio lived up to his name. A larger than life character.

He was great on Celebrity Big Brother, stole the show from what I remember. Chili eating contest and winding up all the z-list celebrities.

RIP Coolio

Used to listen to the Kenan & Kel theme song before school when I was in reception.

The adult website sponsored song he did as well was hilarious.
