R.I.P. Jimmy!

Prediction:
The person who hit him will be convicted of causing death by dangerous driving and will get 4 years and a 5-10 year ban. The other driver *might* get the same conviction and if so will likely see a 2 year sentence and 5 year ban.

The passengers in the cars (if any) will likely be un-prosecuted.

RIP Jimmy.

Hope his mum gets better!

Hopefully the council will do something to honestly prevent this from happening in the future again. (speed cameras or the such like)

Thoughts go out to friends, family and those affected.

I've lived in that area for years and I can honestly say that people don't race or drive fast down that road normally. The A45 in Sheldon is known for racers, it's a dual carriage way with a large junction/lights that seems to encourage traffic light GP's. Here: http://g.co/maps/8wsg

and Jimmy was killed here: http://g.co/maps/9t3e

Just where those people are.

There was a report in the paper on Monday, but it has no real details other than a man being killed on that road.

I know. I will get angry, but to be honest, it don't matter right now as it'll be ages before anything happens. I'll post back in here if/when I hear.

What good are the angers that brews in me. Obviously you liked this man a lot judging only by the amount you written in the OP. Very sorry to hear what has happened to your mate, and i cant imagine how you are feeling right now.

I'm just a stray reading threads after midnight, but very big thoughts are conjuring in my mind. Just wishing that these things never happen, unfortunately its impossible with the number of idiots out there today.

Rest in Peace Jimmy

.... but at the end of the day will Jimmy rest in peace knowing his murderers will serve 5 years max in jail? Isn't it about time all these liberal do-gooders and the goody two shoe brigade (oooo he was from a broken home blah blah) did a one and common sense prevailed. Sod their human rights grrrrrr

The problem is though, it's not murder. He was killed by their negligence - they didn't set out deliberately to kill him. This therefore obviously gets a lesser sentence because you have to differentiate between intentional killing of another human being and accidental. They will be charged with Causing Death by Dangerous Driving - or Vehicular Manslaughter to give it it's other name.

My mate just mentioned this as he knows Adam (were in some of the same classes at school and college), I know who is, I went to Tudor Grange school he was in the year below. I remember him from Junior school as well.

RIP.

RIP. Always irritates me when people get killed in situations like this.

There was a young lad about 10 year old round here got knocked over and killed just a few weeks ago by some ******* 19 year old boy racer tear-arsing round the corner at 50 in a 30. Pathetic.

You mean emotion-based sentencing and mob rule, yeah?

I'd much rather "liberal do-gooders and the good two shoe brigade" than the blind morons of mob justice who would gladly see us revert to a state of barbarism while ignoring the causes of crime and instead of trying to prevent crime just get a hardon whenever they can throw down the axe upon someone's head.

He's unlikely to care what his killers' sentences are because he's dead. It's a tragic accident, and while I do not condone the killers' actions in anyway (I hate the boy-racers, causing accidents and increasing our insurance costs), you can't simply ignore the fact there are deeper underlying issues than "they're scum" like the common populace often like to believe.

What a sad story, can't imagine what his mother is going through :( this is so bad.

RIP Jimmy, hope the Mother gets better soon, can't imagine what friends and family are going through.

Phoenix thank you for telling the OCUK community, it must have been emotionally hard to write it up.
