R.I.P Proof of d12

I feel really sad, seeing it earlier on bbc news. He was one of if not THE best freestyles of the past decade. He was on par with eminem for talent in my eyes. Very sad to see him go.

On another note, obie trice was also shot and injured a few weeks ago.

How on earth did i imply it?!?!? I made no mention of race at all.

To me, it seems like you're the one with issues about race.

lets not turn this into a slagging thread -

RIP for a very talented and well respected member of the music scene that he represented!!

Too many good artists are being shot/killed for no apparent reason.

Shame :(

Well why dont you explain why he would be out mugging old ladies then, you made an assumption of sorts, if it wasnt race, then what was it?

Perhaps because he's a "gangster", and Detroit is complete hole.

People wrongly assume that gangster rap is about being a gangster. Its just the scene and the general set up of the music and delivery of the lyrics that characterises it, not the theme.

Details are emerging that he had an argument with a bouncer and shot first before getting shot and killed by another bouncer.

Whatever happened, its sad, and weird that I saw Toy Soldiers video where he plays dead only a few days ago and thought about who die next in hiphop circles.

You saying black people can't have money?

:D

Mate, the whole 'can't say anything against a black person 'cos it's racist' thing is REALLY old now.

Nobody on here can really comment on whether or not he brought it on himself as nobody on here knew his business. I don't really feel I'm in a position to say anything about the man other than that I enjoyed D12's stuff more than the other chart hip-hop doing the rounds, so I'll miss him for that.

Nooo this is aweful :(

He was awesome backing up Eminem on stage, I will miss him greatly.

However, anyone who thinks that any lyrics must cross over into reality is a fool. D-12 may of rapped about violence and guns etc, but it was provoking and playing. Rapping about violence does not mean your life should end in violence, which is why I think this 'live by the sword...' commenting is a bit rubbish and insulting to his memory.

I'll remmember him for his great talent, not the 'next rapper who bit more than he could chew  '.

R.I.P. :(

You're quite right, but you can't deny that it makes it more likely, if no less reprehensible.

Police investigating the nightclub shooting death of rapper Proof questioned a bouncer who is a cousin of a man critically injured in the gunfire.

Police also said Wednesday it was Proof, 32, who fired the first bullet at the CCC nightclub, hitting Keith Bender in the head. Bender remained in critical condition early Thursday at St. John Hospital, spokeswoman Wende Berry said.

The shootout erupted before dawn Tuesday, more than two hours after the nightclub was required to close for the night. Investigators believe Proof was shot after he pistol-whipped and shot Bender at the club on Eight Mile Road, which was memorialized in the 2002 film starring rap superstar Eminem, Proof's close friend.

Bender's cousin Mario Ethridge, 28, spoke to investigators Wednesday, the Detroit Free Press reported.

"He came in because the Detroit Police Department asked him to," his attorney Randall Upshaw told WXYZ-TV. "Does that sound like a murderer?"

Upshaw declined to say whether his client shot Proof but said whoever did acted in self-defense.

"The understanding of every witness we've spoken to is that Proof pulled out a weapon," Upshaw said. "Proof shot Keith in the face, and Keith was unarmed."

Sounds like he brought him on himself
