R50

well apparently its the fastest production SUV in the world...until the Q7 V12 comes out, which is meant to be faster. Although if I was looking at an SUV I'd be wanting something that actually works offroad, which isn't the case with most brands and is yet to be proven with these. I can't imagine lowering it 20mm over a standard toureg has offroad advantages

Didn't VW take some to the Paris Dakar last year? That would seem like a reasonable test.

VW have use the Toerag on the P-D for a few years now. It has naff-all in common with the road car though.

was that not just the V10 TDI's, rather than the R50s? The R50s have an uprated version of the V10 TDI but the suspension etc seems to have been tweaked towards road use

Do all manufacturers now only print figures in illegible and poorly understood metric figures only? Whats with all the NM and PS. Is it so that people who buy these can ring off the figures to people knowing they wont try to compete with them on it. Im surprised someone hasnt created a 'new' way to measure time, just to they can say this car does 0-62 in 3.2squats...

vote BNP!

vote BNP!

Do they still exist? Thort they were a fad that went out when they realised nobody actually had any plans...

Im not really against metric, its been around ages, but they could atleast print the imperial numbers too. Who actually understands NM and PS anyway?

Jeez! Google VW R50 and the first 4 results (didnt look further) show figures in old school. And I understand NM and PS. ;)

Brake horsepower (bhp) is the measure of an engine's horsepower without the loss in power caused by the gearbox, generator, differential, water pump, and other auxiliary components such as alternator, power steering, and AC compressor. Thus the prefix "brake" refers to where the power is measured: at the engine's output shaft, as on an engine dynamometer.
DIN horsepower is the power measured according to the German standard DIN 70020 and like the SAE net figure is measured at the flywheel. It is sometimes abbreviated as "PS", which stands for Pferdestärke, German for horsepower. However, DIN "horsepower" is often expressed in metric (Pferdestärke) rather than mechanical horsepower.

1hp = 745.69987 W
1ps = 735.49875 W

In 1992, the PS was rendered obsolete by EEC directives, when it was replaced by the kilowatt as the official power measuring unit
thus using KW is actually the best way as you can easily convert to either from KW

I'd never really want one of those, but I'd LOOOVE a huge American SUV, a la Dodge Ram or GMC with a 5.7 Hemi :cool: Yeah sure they're maybe antisocial / non-environmentally friendly or ridiculous cars but you know what? I don't give a **** :D

Same with all middle class families including my own.

Never heard anyone accurately class themselves before.

My opinion was that middle class england buys what something which is the same as or one up on their peers, I.E. "I always wanted a Range Rover darling, but everyones got one...OOoooo a Range Rover Sport!!!!"

I edited it to say 'accurately'

Might be due to me living in essex and hairdressers that just about afford the payments on their Mini One who are going to "bluewaw'er" speak of themselves as such.

Im not exactly sure what defines middle class but I damn well hope it is not that.
