Just had a quick go on BF4 (I am the worlds worst player) @1080p maxed and was averaging about 100 to 110 on one card and 160 to 180 on two cards.

One will most likely be enough as mantle is coming in december which should boost performance again. Nobody knows what the boost will be like but i have heard as much as 10-30% being touted.
 
update.
with my room mates help i exchanged one strip for the other and bang temps are down to normal :)
Added of mx4 everywhere on top side 2 :)
Furmark as i type VRM1 67 Even gpu temperature 52. That is with extra 100mv and 100hz oc :)

I am a total EK block noob :P

tribz I had long strips on my 7950 and on standard cooler they are long to. Dont think it makes any difference. I had aquacool gpu on my 7950 and that had same type of strips so sthat got me confused :P
 
OK max artefacts free oc on my card is 1170/6150 using 1393mv.
Max gpu temperature with that is 56c after some benchmarking.

Guess i lost chip lottery this time around.
Maybe with better bios and MSI AB it can get to 1200 but not as it is atm.

unlucky man, but still a pretty decent overclock all the same, with the added benefit of been cooler and much quieter!!
 
melmac ye thats the point. This card MINCES EVERYTHING i throw at it...
With this overclock its around 40% faster than my 7950@1200/1650
Orangey mine is 79% ASIC i assume lower would be better for oc looking at what people got out of those cards
 
R9 290X at stock with my 3770K at 4.7GHz, FRAPS reported 101.362 Avg FPS after about 30-40min game in a 32 man Rush server. Not bad!

Everything Ultra except AA, which is off @ 1080p

55% fan speed at idle.... No wonder your idle temp is 35 degrees. :confused:
