Race Driver: Grid

This game rocks but im getting the occasional CTD when exiting the sponsor screen, its not a major problem as loading back up seems to work fine, anyone know whats causing it. Oh and also is there a problem with the resolutions ingame, If I go over 1280 its a slideshow! im running a 8800gtx is that right?

Anyone find that in this game with the 360 pad that it's a bit twitchy keeping the car in a straight line? what I mean is that the game is very sensitive to the analogue steering in that even if you lightly even touch the analogue stick left/right without actually dripping it and moving it the car will slowly move in that direction? any way to make it not so "early" sensitive?

I too had my first crash yesterday, exited a race to the menu and the audio just cycled endlessly but I reckon this may be a XFI issue in GAME mode as I enabled hardware audio (not available in entertainment mode) as I never had a crash like this before switching to GAME mode!

The Graphics are stunning, everything about it is just amazing visually. Drift is defo my favourite race mode but does anyone know if there's a rally mode too ?later on ?

Doesn't sound right, no. I run it at 1680x1050, all in-game options maxed (high or ultra) and have zero issues at all. Got something running in background?

hmm I did check that I killed anything i didnt need running. Would my cpu (AMD 3800+) or my RAM (2Gb DDR GSkill pc4000 stuff I think) cause the problem?

Could it be because my wireless 360 pad is new then that it's doing this? might phone up MS and complain and get them to RMA it with a more suitable one!

Over minimum specs on the cpu, but looks like the game likes two cores. Your 3800 an x2?

PC system specs
Minimum Specifications

Windows XP/Vista. (If running Windows Vista, SP1 is recommended)
DirectX 9.0c
Pentium 4 @ 3.0GHz or Athlon 64 3000+
1GB RAM.
Graphics Card: GeForce 6800 / Radeon X1300 or above
DirectX Compatible Sound Card
Dual Layer Compatible DVD-ROM Drive
12.5 GB Hard Drive Space

Recommended Specifications

Windows XP/Vista. (If running Windows Vista, SP1 is recommended)
DirectX 9.0c
Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.66Ghz or Athlon X2 3800+
2GB RAM.
Graphics Card: GeForce 8800 or Radeon X1950
Sound Card: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Sound Card.
Dual Layer Compatible DVD-ROM Drive
12.5 GB Hard Drive Space
Supported Graphics Cards

One thing i'm not happy with is the lack of options in multiplayer mode,it would far easier to just list all the tracks and all the cars so you can pick n choose that way.

i bought mine new, wireless and wired one specially for this game, maybe faulty?

Yeah is an X2 looks like the only thing there is the sound card im missing (still using onboard, its my next purchase) the crash could be sound related but why do it on one screen and only if it isnt the first screen i enter (if i do anything else first then go into sponsors can do what I want in the screen but exit and CTD!) the stutter I have no idea about if I drop the quality to low and crank the res up to 1680...slideshow again! GRRRR!

when i start a race, if i accelerate from the starting grid without steering the car will drift to the left until corrected, after that it seems ok.

I think the pad thing is a problem with analogue pads not built for PCs (thats what I thought anyway) my PS3 pad is a pain on analogue on most games but the normal direction buttons are fine I usually use them.

Well I phoned MS on their London 0207 number as I used my mobile and got through to them which autodirected to India by the sounds of the various clicks and operator who answered. Anyway they said they could only help if I gave them the XBOX 360 console serial information so they can verify it's been registered and is under warranty.

WTF?

I explained it has nothing to do with any console but she kept asking for the console serial to see it's under warranty.... I have emailed them instead hoping someone more intelligent reads the issue.

It's ok on normal races where the maps are curvy and not straight but on Le Mans where you get vast straights or maps where there are straights with various jumps etc the car starts to veer left/right slightly depending on which position the analogue stick was released from!

yup, should have mentioned straight's also, ive not found it that big a problem, although i do have to concentrate on it more than i should.

Also, this happens more with my old cabled 360 controller than my wireless one

Oh yeah!, Who said they haven't cocked this game up?!

If you look at the official forums there's loads of people having all sorts of problems with controllers, graphical errors, stuttering, sound errors, the game crashing, the game not even installing, etc, etc.

Codemasters are desperately trying to get the first patch out cos there's loads of stuff that they are working on fixing.

I'm really glad to hear to hear that some of you aren't having any of these problems because the game is really, really good.

Yeah just looked though the forums and have tried most of what the people on there have suggested, funny that the ones helping are all users, all the mods (or mod in this case) can do is go "DXdiag please" over and over its actually laughable! :p

The only suggestion I've seen from one of the programmers is 'lower your resolution to 1280x1024' to a bloke with a 4ghz quad and a 9800gx2! In
fact they are saying that to a lot of people.

yeah I read the same thread, the guy came back and just laughed at him.:p

nubtards! I simply think this game doesnt like res over 1280 on certain cards.

Its a good game and I can put up with this annoyance if a patch is on its way though so...
