Race Driver: Grid

Yeah, I just tried that config and it doesn't really look any different

Someone tweaked the HDR/Blur settings on the GRID forums. Looks much better. Waiting for him to upload the files though

These images also show the choppy shadows (look at the shadow on the rear window and the shadows on the ground to the left of the car) that exist in this game. In some pre-race sequences this is worse.

Codemasters have said that this should be fixed in the first patch.

Do these graphics mods have any impact on fps?

Yep, on my E6600, 3GB, 2900XT @ 720p it is a pretty hefty penalty, I've seen single figures in replays with the highest shadow maps setting (it mostly seems to be around 25fps with 8XMSAA, iirc) and it does stutter a lot more. I do think with a bit of tweaking you can get a prettier game with less of a performance hit.

anyone managed to buy the gt3 rsr porsche yet? i cant find where to buy it :(

ahh found the answer
"We only have the license for porsche within the context of the LM 24h and LMS, and
therefore we couldn't let the player "buy" the car. Therefore, it's only ever available
in Driver Offers in career."

1920x1200 no performance hit!

Also in motion it seems smoother! the Shibuya Drift level in particular is buter smooth, so smooth and slick that if you were say back you'd think you were watching it live on TV !

mrk, it looks like your not getting these nasty shadows either with those ultra settings?

Seems much worse in this race.

Edit; Codemasters are saying 'It is actually an aspect ratio issue. It will be resolved in the patch. For now, try another screen resolution.'

I still haven't figured out where to get these ultra settings from! :o :( ...............Sorry, i see now. muppet!

oh boy, id appreciate some urgent help:

I downloaded & installed the mods posted, and i went straight into the advanced settings and put everything to max. And when i launch the game it runs at like 1 frame per minute in the menus.

Is there any cfg file i can delete to get back to default.

Thanks

silly me :(

Edit: what settings would you suggest? There were tons of options with 2048 and 4014(?), i just set them all to the max, what are you guys running at?

Did you adjust any of the new settings in the options screen? Right now mine are:

Shadows: 2048
Mirrors: On Low
Ground Cover: High
Reflections 512

I just checked and realised the the advanced screen has a scrollbar!!!!!!!!!!

Needless to say I upped some of them too now and edited the screenshots :)

I am using:

Lol, I saw sub 10fps in the menus too after i foolishly put everything to 40096 or whatever they were able to go to :p I guess a 512MB video card like my 8800GT just craps out with that many textures filling it up and especially the 256bit
memory bus!

DiRT was the same. To improve framerates, people were turning down particle effects and shadows, but I could not find the settings!!

There was also a scrollbar in the advanced settings that was easily missed.

Rather like the "ctrl" key to customise controls in GRID :D
