Race Driver: Grid

I have a 19" LCD Samsung (932BF) So my MAX res will be 1280 x 1024. So I guess it should play a bit better then?

I have started the download! :D

What handling settings do you guys use like traction control off and all that?

I got all the aids switched on. I have no idea if driving without them would be faster, but it seems like it'd be incredibly hard to learn. I want to know how 1:39 is possible on the muscles, just praying that the xbox is easier :P.

I'm just installing the demo now. :D.

What settings would you guys recomend I put on? Graphics wise and car setup wise?

It would appear that I now cannot get the demo running on my machine!

When I first installed the demo, I went into the graphics option and set my res to 1280 x 1024 then I turned all the other settings up. So it then told me that I needed to restart the game in order to apply the settings. So I did.

Now all that happens is the first intro movie comes up. Then when it gets to the loading screen, my whole screen goes off and on a few times (flickers, rather) and the sound does the same thing. If I leave it, the screen eventually goes blank. (black).

So I uninstalled the demeo and reinstalled. Same problem. I even, changed to 169.04 drivers for my card same problem!

Anyone got any advice how to fix this??

Edit: Also the only way to get out of the above screen is to restart the PC. :(

Not a firewall problem is it? I find that my firewall Comodo can force me to reboot because it won't give me access to the box for allowing/denying.

Have you tried running driver sweeper (after uninstalling the graphics drivers) and then installed the latest beta's? I had this issue and the drivers fixed it for me.

PC GAMING IS HELL!

This is the first game thats tempted me back to PC gaming in years. Ive had nothing but headaches.

So ive:
1) Purchased a 8800GT OC2 gfx card
2) Downloaded the latest drivers
3) Fresh install of the demo (downloaded twice)
4) Go to run the game and im getting MAJOR pauses/stalls sometimes locking at 1-2fps according to fraps even on starting a race.

So annoyed as this is what drove me away from PC gaming, why the heck am i having these problems as many of you guys are using such settings with similar cards, someone PLEASE help im about to stick my foot into this PC.

Vista Ultimate 4 GB RAM AMD 6000 with 512MB 8800GT OC2 card
Creative soundcard set to GAME mode. 1680x1050 res, in game setting to High and Ultra.

Have you tried it with the sound acceleration on basic?

The demo is very buggy!

Right I got it fixed! :D

I used to Nvidia control panel to force all settings to lowest then I reset the settings in game and all is well.

However I have no found my 5.1 setup isn't working too well at all. :(

I don't hear the cars noise, only small bits and bobs of sounds. ANyone else got this issue?

Are you finding this faster than having all on or do you just like the challenge?

I find that you can brake much later with the braking assist off but you have to modulate it as it's sharper and locks up easily. It's tricky but I reckon if you can master it it will be faster. I'm sure it would be easier to modulate with pedals.

Same for TC I suppose.

:D

After what was probably 3 hours of updating drivers, changing settings and re-downloading SP1 for Vista Ultimate 64 finally got it sorted. Has been worth it though as this game visually and sonically on good AV hardware is nothing short of astounding. Currently have been testing it via the projector and upscaled to the audio via my amp to 7.1 making it a real eye and ear opener.

My settings:
Xfi audio hardware support = On in High quality mode
All ingame visuals set to max settings
Resolution @ 1920x1080 with 8xAA
Frames = 35-60 averaging about 40 throughout the race

Very playable at this indeed, altogether a mighty impressive demo.
I guess you could say this is the "Racing Game" equivelent of Crysis

Mr. Latte.

From the above post, it seems you have a 7.1 speaker setup. Do all the speakers work as they should?

The reason I am asking is because when I play the game on my 5.1 setup, I don't hear any game music or anything. The car's engine is some what muffeled and I only hear crowds, grass driving and car crashing properly. :(

Any ideas?

Also; I agree with you, this game is awesome once you've got the car's handling setup to your needs. :D

I am considering getting a steering wheel and pedal for the game, too. Is it worth buying one or not?

Thanks all!

Getting sick of bad comments on MP from people who cant overtake me fairly. You could do with a race referee as all it can take is for a stray comment from someone who can't brake to get banned:mad:

I am pleased you got it sorted.
I have been playing it online for the last couple of hours and if you race with a few decent people its great fun.
When we get the full game and can set up private lobbys it will be better still.
Its a must have game for me.

Id be up for some OcUK racing, im not the fastest driver on here, but i like to think im a good clean driver... Not raced online with the demo because wreckers really annoy me.

.... Should i order the Xbox360 version as well, because it i remember the fun i had racing on Forza2 and PGR4 with fellow OcUK members.
