Race reports

Ah rubbish. You definitely have a, way to go aero wise. Ive ridden a 22.23 on there off 265w...

Yes, I've ridden 22.22 on a c.30-40s slower course than this in my road helmet. So guessing the messing around lifting my neck up a bunch of times cost me about that. Hoping in the summer i'll have a disc and deep front which may save another 20-30s with fast tyres and latex tubes. Then there must be plenty of low hanging position fruit, as I've pretty much just ridden it as the position I put the bike together in.

Round 13 of local league yesterday, a week of rain followed by rain all morning Sunday mean it was a muddy one. Quickly rode the course prior to the race and had to clean my bike up....

Started off the race really well, moving up to about 10th after lap 2, but slowly lost my legs through the long muddy slogs, and dropped back, was just happy to get through with no issues, eventually finished 15th, but definitely moving up as finishing above and around riders I used to be nowhere near. Bit frustrated as I was hoping to get round without getting lapped and got picked 3 corners from the end! :(

I played CX yesterday too! :D Didnt get as muddy as you though - there was still a lof of snow around so it stayed pretty clean. My legs were so cold and I couldnt feel them so I didnt realise that taking tight lines close to the stabby bushes was doing damage.
Everyone was covered in blood by the end and I have hundreds of tiny stab wounds all over my forearms and legs today. It looks like I have chicken pox.

My belgian tan line in the strava picture was after I wiped them down :P Good on you touch. I do love CX tbh, just so satisfying, glad it wasn't as cold as that down here. Was about 8c luckily so once racing you didn't feel it.

Er, oops....0.5 miles into todays race....

Someone leant me their Giant which was way too small and then hopped onto another club mates Cannondale SuperX Force1, managed to claw my way back up the field even on the completely wrong pressures/tyres etc, but had such great fun! Smiles all round. Got to the end and the girl who leant me the SuperX was already on the phone to someone at Cannondale about getting it replaced, so not sure on process yet, but should hopefully be sorted quickly with some luck!

Final league table came out for CX, I was highest placed Senior who didn't ride the full 9 events required, 31st overall, would probably move up 8-9 places if I rode 2 more events. Quite happy, and will look to improve next season when/if my bike is eventually replaced :P Going back to the shop I got it from tomorrow and then on to Cannondale.

Now time to focus on TTs, first one in 3 weeks :S

First TT of the season, local hardriders course, 18 miles of up down terrain on rubbish surface. Had problems with my Di2 all week and only rode it first time on the road on Saturday! Not ideal preparation. Warming up and realised my Di2 wasn't shifting right, but didn't have time to figure out why, so rode knowing a few gears would be clattery.... Got off well smashing it up the first 5 miles in good power once I'd got my Garmin to pick up GPS as it had switched off for some unknown reason, I caught my minute man within the first 2.5 miles, before the first descent, didn't realise how strong the headwind was once I came back around! Fairly uneventful ride apart from the gearing. Finished with ave power of 260w, normalised 268w for 45 minutes, which is definitely up on last year, but reckon once I get used to riding the TT bike again and get the gearing sorted this should hopefully increase. New Front and Rear Wheels definitely helped.

Ended up 12th in a strong local field, and won my first ever prize money by being best team. Nice paying for your event entry fee.

Another week another sporting course. Horrendously windy course, up and down, seemed to be headwind most of the way. Was very happy with my ride averaging 257W for 1:02:25, but finished in 11th. Few ropey moments in the cross wind and quite a few segments I took tentatively, but power higher than I've ever put out for the hour and didn't think I had the legs after the first 15 minutes, but settled in nicely. Cried cleaning my bike after!

Just one of those days yesterday..... Couldn't get any power down whatsoever, legs felt awful, came 40 something in a 120 field and with 256w for 23.43. Terrible but got to have a reminder every now and then. Need to get some more training in. Punished myself by riding up to Sussex in the afternoon. :-D:-D

Sorry to hear that, still early season, so plenty of time for more training.

Just wrote up my most recent 10m TT here.

Good read, and great time on what is not necessarily a fast course!

My season has suffered some setbacks due to illness, but got my first 10 of the year on Saturday so looking forward to seeing how that goes. Form seems generally good despite training being a bit patchy over the last few weeks, just hoping that is all behind me now. :) Treated myself to a Zipp 808 front that I got a great deal on, so will be good to try that out.
