After visiting the museum at Le Mans, I've got the urge to try a racing game but I know absolutely nothing about them.

I'd like something that will run well on my system RTX 3080 (10Gb), 5800x3d, ideally on my 4K OLED TV, and is on the fun side of sim and I'd really like to be able to drive the Porsche 917.

I'll be playing with a game pad to start of but getting a wheel and pedals is an option down the road.

It would also be great if it wasn't full of microtransactions. I'm ok with DLC though.

Help me out.

Thanks

Dave

I've not heard great things tbh and isn't it riddled with microtransations? To be honest i'm more up for something that been out for a few years - tried and tested. Weren't the project cars games good? I know the name but not much about them...

No. You can buy premium packs etc but no need. Just get gamepass for a month and try it (and Forza Horizon if you're happy with something more casual still).

OP have you ever considered VR? For driving sims it's just immersion on another level, most of the popular driving sims (Assetto Corsa, Project Cars 2, ACC, etc) have VR modes. I can't sim in 2D now.

So CD Keys have the deluxe edition for 36 quid - which I should be able to redeem on steam right? Can anyone confirm? (they don't sell it anymore due to licenses ending)

Will that get me all the cars/tracks etc?

You can get Assetto Corsa with all the DLC for £31 and then have access to an endless amount of content via its still thriving mod community. Even without mods it's a superior product to pCars2 but with mods it's by far the most complete single-player driving experience that's ever existed on PC. Its multiplayer is also more active than pCars 2 which the last time I checked was a total graveyard.

Can't speak for VR performance relative to pCars 2 though.
