I was rather upset by seeing the innocent asian lad. Getting headbutted twice, Nobody did nothing at all to restrain the bald white lad. He looked like typical I'm an 'ard guy type. His wife was pregnant, and she didn't even say to him once, look just go sit down and don't do nothing.
I felt more sorry for the asian lads wife, she was heroic for trying the white lad to stop her husband getting attacked more. I should have called the Police, my father said the same, just didn't come to mind at that time.
I hope the asian lads allright, didn't have a chance to exchange numbers or anything. Just, it's typical when someone is alone, other people love picking fights. I just find it disgusting.
Theres nothing wrong with what you did at all and I think you did the right thing. However, for all the complete tossers that insist crime is getting better, its not. Crime rates are dropping because more and more of these kinds of situations, and muggings, even basic car accidents and robberies go unreported. Half of them go unreported because its simply too much hassel and insurance or whatever will go up if you claim on a car/house theft if the cost to replace isn't too high over 20 years of higher premium's. The other half, had you called the police, you essentially take it to the next level, the problem is though that as these cases result in smeg all most of the time, the guy being prosecuted gets even more angry at whoever made the complaint and will often actively target that person.
So had you called the police you could unwittingly have caused more trouble for the couple. AS the police would take it to court, it gets thrown out, or a pathetic ASBO or whatever. Then after its dropped, or during, the guy and his friends follow the couple around, intimidate, maybe beat up more, vandalise their house.
This is why people don't report crimes anymore, its simply not worth it. Almost every mugging, theft, car accident me or anyone I've known has reported basically nothing good has come of any of it. The two house robberies we've had(while we were out) we lost a couple tv's, thats it, but claiming on the insurance hurt us more than the tv loss financially and the cops after doing some dusting got absolutely nowhere at all.
ANyway, you can take comfort in the fact that you probably saved them some trouble reporting it.
ITs fairly useless when people are actually reluctant to call the police these days, as it causes more trouble than its worth.
AS for national service, won't work. Fixing schooling, making kids parents work rather than sponge off the council teaching their kids theres no need to ever work and giving them a crappy work ethic leading to all kinds of issues is what needs fixing. National service will make the problems much much worse.
These are just bad people and in general, we learn who we are going to be in childhood and early adulthood, very few people change their base views on life after this time, rehabilitation is great in theory, in practice it will rarely ever work.
The biggest issue we have in this country is that if these people continue to be able to sponge benefits off the government, not get in real trouble then nothing will change and they will teach their kids to be the same.
Even if you can't change peoples views, you can teach them something new, like punishing them so badly that they persaude their kids to not follow their path as same will happen to them.
