Haven't played anything on a PC for a long time, but tonight decided to hook up my Momo Racing wheel and have a blast on LFS and Richard Burns Rally. LFS hasn't really changed a great deal and the sound model is still poo after all this time. Richard Burns Rally is punishingly difficult...

Is there anything new I've missed? Ideally something with real world tracks?

If you feel like spending what could be quite a lot of money iRacing is worth a look. Probably the best game out there in terms of simulation and has 45 road and oval tracks with 112 variations.

Everyone has a safety rating that they need to maintain in order to progress through the licenses so racing is very clean.

IRacing for some really good clean racing 99% of the time, do get the odd crash, but generally its just a racing incident, its well worth the monthly fee, as it keeps all the idiots out of the sim - all tracks are laser and gps created, most of the cars handle just as they should in real life and again most of the time the game devolopers get all their data from race teams and is always changing.

iRacing, all laser scanned tracks and licensed cars, all recreated with realism in mind.

Bit expensive to get into past trying out the first month but worth a try.

I hate to say it, but iRacing is pretty good. Although you need to know that there is not really any 'pick up racing' as you would be used to in LFS. All official series races are a fixed schedule, some don't even run every day.

There's also the RSRBR2011 mod for RBR, has some extra stages, cars etc, might be easier to learn it again in a little FWD rather than a full-on WRC beast.

I wouldn't touch any of the Simbin ones, they all feel like GTR/GTL used to.

Edit: Nearly forgot, NKPro has some good features in progress...rain, mystery V8 (Cobra replica most likely), and there is also an iRacing style points/safety ratings ladder in construction.

I'll add another vote for iRacing, I've tried pretty much every other sim (NKPro is the main exception) and iRacing is a step above imo.

But, again as mentioned, it can get damn pricey, I've got 100% content and the money I've spent is a bit silly really, but imo worth it (and compared to my motorbike racing it's a hell of a lot better bang for buck with a very similar adrenaline buzz at the end of a good race...)

Another vote for iracing, i first started it when they had the promotion where you got 2 months free as a way to take up time unilt GT5, but im now hooked on iracing.

Another vote here for iRacing, yes it does cost a bit but if you like it and pay for a full year (which you get a discount for anyway) you don't really notice it and they also pay you in credits for competing which can be used for content/membership fees.

I'm at 100% too so what with the credits and 25% discount it near enough covers the cost of new content.

And one more for iRacing. It's a game-changer when it comes to realism. For rally Richard Burns Rally remains your only real option, not a bad option mind you, just a little bit old at this point.

netKar and iRacing are king at the moment for me. But nobody plays netKar.

NetKar has a slightly rawer feel, and I think in terms of open wheel the physics are slighter better, but iRacing has the best rubbery response for me.

Both great, and netKar is pretty cheap.

Is there a cheaper way of playing iRacing than a monthly sub? I did play it for a month not long after it came out and I did think it was rather good.
