Racism

Yep, have come across people who say 'Konichiwa' as well, assuming I'm Japanese. It also annoys me when people say 'they all look the same'. I have been told I look Korean, Malaysian and Thai before. I could be anything, but these randoms on the street don't know what I am so they shouldn't talk random crap to strangers
I really don't see your problem, if I was in France and somebody spoke English to me because I obviously don't care how I dress, then I wouldn't be offended.

I imagine they are thinking they are being polite by trying out a native language first. I try to speak French when I meet a French person in the UK, the intention is I'm trying to meet them halfway and not be completely ignorant of other cultures.

I would assume Spanish as a first language.

Thanks I just needed someone to confirm that.

I now think its wrong that the FA found him guilty of racism, as I'm pretty sure "Negro" (not "NeeeeeGro") means the colour "Black".

From the tweet there was no obvious mention it was referring to colonial times from what I could see, sounds like somebody's trying to dig out of a hole.

I don't like being grouped as a collective "white people" when attributing negative traits - just as much as I dislike it when people do it to any race.

From a few small comments she seems to be either slightly racist, or trying to appeal to black people too much & being a fool - I recall a comment about "black women will always try hard to assist there children" or something along those lines.

I wish people would stop "rooting for there race" & root a just "root for there species".

I think his problem is that he speaks English but people assume he doesn't (or at least that he speaks another particular language) because of his appearance, which is the height of ignorance. Do you first speak to black people in an African language instead of English?

Racists tend to believe that certain groups are bad simply due to the fact they are black/white/asian, usually they try to imply they are genetically inferior.

Agreed.

However, what if that belief is later proven to be fact (be it about black or white people)?

Would such statements be ignored in an effort to appease people (I think they would)?

I suggest reading the FA report to get a bit of context, as you clearly haven't and have just heard what Liverpool have said, which is basically utter boulderdash. Read what he said and how many times and you'll understand unless you have an agenda of your own.

Send link.

I'm going by what I read in a paper today. That he was suspended for using the word "Negro"

You can find a link on Google.

It's all about context though, he said amoungst other things:

'I don't talk to black people'

'Little Black boy'

'What's the matter Black boy'

He kept repeating these insults over and over, now you can't tell me that these are meant as a term of endearment? Are you aware how long Suarez has lived outside of his home country? He knew exactly what he was doing.

Last year she has also described David Cameron and Nick Clegg as 'two posh white boys'

I see. I stand corrected as this was not printed in the paper......

Patrice shouldve responded with some insults of his own!

For the benefit of those who are either blind or have never seen Cameron or Clegg?! lol

Seriously though, who are you talking about? Who is this she?

she has always been racist.
just shows how double standards work.

They are talking about the current news story of Diane Abbots twitter where she said "white people like to...." and the furore of cries of 'racism' <sigh>

At least it balances things out a little, when the racists do come on here and complain that no-one says anything when a black person uses the same generalisations :p

Suarez said it once according to his own statement. Evra said it was 10 times then changed to 7. There was No evidence to back Evra up and Suarez was judged on a probability.

Amazingly he said it all those times yet not one of the countless microphones or cameras picked it up and even Evras own team mates who were around him at the time didn't hear a thing.

Diane Abbott

....Her. Must say not a fan.

Hmmm, clear case of double standards. Im not phased but name calling but can tell you this. Had a white MP said something like "two rich black boys"... Im pretty sure there would be some sort of outcry.

"Racism" in this country just makes me laugh. We're encouraged to look past ones colour and origin. Yet people in the public eye contantly feel the need to shove race into our faces.

"A young black male"

"Two rich white boys"

If looking past race is so important why do the media and those within the public eye place so much emphasis on it?
