Racism

Not really no, as I'm not easily offended.
However to some people this might be offensive, especially if you don't know this person very well, or at all.

Then that's not your problem? Then again if someone is offended maybe they need to put their hand up and say why? lol.

only if you call them oriental noodles lol

I love oriental noodles. They love me too.

I received a secret santa present and it contained a pack of noodles.... Is that racism? :D

If people look at me and think I like bhangra music, is that racism?

I dunno, but I hate it and want to slap them stupid. Id rather have someone insult me instead.

******* BLACK **** = Offensive and warrants £1000s spent in investigation and crap.

******* **** = Does not warrant money investigating.

Seems the store was closed, seems to be a huge assumption to suggest it wouldn't reopen because Oprah is a black woman, far more likely the store was telling the truth.

I was thinking the same thing. Why on earth someone would call the race card because the shop was no longer open to customers is beyond me.

Why was it so hard to believe the store was being genuine.

I think that her "friend" simply cannot grasp that Oprah is not quite as worshipped in Europe as she is in the US....besides, French Fashion Houses are infamous for being sticklers to their rules no matter who you think you are.

It could have been racism that led to the refusal of the request but equally perhaps the store would have refused anyone making the request as a matter of principle i.e. our opening hours are XX:00-YY:00 and if you can't make it in during that time then tough. It's a large leap as said to immediately assume it is down to the colour of the persons skin, to claim it without any evidence is arguably unhelpful if it dilutes the effect where actual instances of racism occur - that racism still exists seems undeniable but it would seem sensible to me to only use the stigma from the claim where it is merited to prevent it losing its impact.

As for the bold part about walking into a pub in Yorkshire and it going silent - I've had that happen in a few pubs when I've walked in and I don't imagine it's anything to do with the colour of my skin, some pubs just have a clientele where anyone they don't know walking in is a cause for slack-jawed amazement...

A very large leap indeed. This friend of hers clearly has a chip on her shoulder.

Racism was invented by Hippies and Benders who are really bent but think they are straight so play the old 'we have emotions card' with things like Racism to try and get ladies interested.. when in reality they look like a shovel has been wrapped around their face 40 times and any bird interested in that is probably being served up around the country on Christmas day. Then end up wearing their mums stockings in some grubby public loo waiting for Leroy77 to turn up after chatting to them on the net.

At the end of the day its a fact of life, either do it or button it imo.
How stupid are you?

Some people are born retards, some genuis, some poor, some rich... so what, get on with it, stop moaning and be grateful with the hand you have been dealt... calling a black person a spade or something.. no harm in it, if we all had a laugh then the world would be a better place and there wouldnt be as much black crime as there is today.

Doesn't warrant coverage by the media because crime that isn't racially motivated is bog standard.

Using the colour of a persons skin to insult/discriminate against them. It requires context.

Generally though, using words that are deemed racist is a bad idea anyway.

This.

But unfortunately over the last 10 years or so has morphed into this....

'Racism' these days seems to be more about trying to seek out any term that could remotely be construed as possibly in some way offensive and then being massively outraged about it even though it didn't actually have any affect on your life at all.

Can of worms exploded, covering the thread.

Racism is stupid, I'm white, if you call me a cracker (not that it even makes sense) I won't be offended, when you call me white trash, I'd be like "er no, my house doesn't have wheels"

Racism/Religion/Censorship is all stupid, can't people just exist without being offended by something? Get over it
Racism doesn't just take the form of verbal insults.

If you got beaten up for being white, refused a job, attacked or treated like a criminal by the police I'm sure it would bother you.

Personally, I'd rather resources are spent of combating that kind of racism (which occurs against people of all races in varying amounts in the UK) than what specific words a pundit uses to describe a skin colour.

It's not like he was dropping N bombs & saying they are inferior - I'm not denying that racism exists & is a problem, but it's more used as an excuse to discriminate against an individual.

I think you will find most racists would also abuse say a goth, a ginger, a fat ugly women, gay people etc - pretty much any minority group that they deem to be an easy target.

Where do we stand on the word "Scotch" to describe those north of the border? I seem to remember my Dad telling me that the Scots took offence to it. Apart from the drink and the eggs encased in meat and breadcrumbs, I don't think I've heard anyone use it for over 20 years.

Ethnic minorities just need to accept that not getting everything you want is part of life. Crying racism every time they don't get something their own way is getting more than a little tiresome.
