Racist or not?

I was recently in a group where a picture was shared of four football commentators.
One was white, one white and tanned, one mixed race and one black.

The picture text comment was "They remind me of the settings on my toaster!"

A few in the group commented that they thought it was racist. I could see it was comparing skin colour to toast colour but it wasnt specifically saying 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 was any better or worse.
It wasnt a funny picture, more a comparison and probably just a way of provoking people into commenting like most pictures posted on the internet.

Racist or not?

No

and if some idiot did want to make the stupid comparison then the white commentator is the worst and the blackest is the best.

I should have wrote 'not' since that was the question.
If somebody wanted to make it racist then the white commentator would be the one being abused the most because nobody wants white toast.
The blackest would be superior.

obviously not racist, colourist at most and without any judgement attached how can anyone take offense. although of course people can take offense because some people try very hard to find offense in everything.

Everyone in the group seemed to jump on the bandwagon that it was racist.
I asked how it was racist and no one could provide a good answer, other that it was and “well called out” (that it was racist)

Since the 'joke' called everyone a shade of toast regardless of skin colour then why is it racist, was it only racist to the burnt toast and not to the plain bread? You need to press them for answers come on man.

Ask them who it is being racist to.

When they advise it's racist towards a certain person in the image, ask why is it racist to them but not the others

Racism is an action or saying something that is detrimental to a certain race based on a feature of said race.... All the image appears to have done is compare people to colours of toast which is not a derogatory action to any of them.

Too many woke people looking for issues and you know what it does? Helps keep racism alive and drives division... Morgan Freeman was asked what should be done about racism and he answered "stop talking about it"

Was it said with hate in the heart of the commenter? If so, then yes it was racist. Otherwise no, just a stupid joke.

Stopping talking about racism doesnt make it stop or go away. It just happens in silence. Racists is what keeps racism alive.
