i must admit the complete lack of aa performance on a 2900 is a little bit of a peeve i would think, why7 do they have such trouble with it?

Now that's just being silly!

I think all that's happening is you're being challenged on your assertion that 2 x 2900XT's will perform faster than 2 x 8800GTX's, that's all! :)

they messed the design up right from the beginning. and they are suffering for it now, it it may be too late for them to make any sort of comeback since thier loss also effects Amd now as well, and they are not doing too well in the cpu area now either.

In a few games it has trouble but it beats the GTS 640 in the majority of games now including prey, doom 3, quake 4 with full AA applied. We can all pick and choose reviews from different sites, some honest some not so, firing squad is so nvidia these days its untrue, I've seen plenty of reviews of the 2900's in Xfire destroying a GTX ultra in most games.

In the end the 2900 is hindered by the fact that most developers are developing games on nvidia hardware making it difficult for games to be as well optimised for ATI cards than it is for nvidia cards, that's why we need ATI's driver department to keep on the ball and optimize games better for things like XFIRE.

to many Nvidia fan boys!! the reason is ATI moved to a diffrent way of making cards and as it was the first ever its going to have side effects! with the way it does the shading or *** ever it was, even nvidia have stated there going in that direction, shame its ati/amd that do the research work first!!

err, you are aware that nvidia's 8 series uses stream processors which is a unified architecture and ati's new cards are using a unified architecture too, although a crapper one since they cheap out on proper stream processors and use shaders insted like the ones on the x19 series cards, but in higher quantity.

Yea NV actually did it first...

You a bit late for that ATI Fanboy :p, Nvidia went to new Process with FX5000 series, made a blunder and lost the crown to ATI, they came back well with the 6000 series.

Now since Nvidia were 1st they had nothing to go by but their own work, but ATI could/should have learned by their mistakes, by grabbing Nvidia cards and dissecting it. :)

You do realise that the 2900XT is absolutely trashing the 8800GTX there? You'd have to take off 15fps for the 4xAA just to be even with it. And there's £60 in the difference!

Lol.. I know which is better value ;)
