Radeon 7970 Benchmarks

well remember the actual release day pricing here on ocuk, 5850 for 200 5870 for 300. (people who bagged them at taht price got hell of a deal

Where I seen 7970 graph recently was on Geeks3d with some pics, despite it saying engineering sample, it could be from anything but there you go anyway. And if you've got a 7970, wouldn't you use a decent camera!?

I love how they purposely make the graphs start from 0.8 etc so that from a glance it looks like a hell of a lot more performance increase when really its only 30-50%...

Even still, I'd say this is fake.

I'd hope for performance this good and it SHOULD be this good but it won't be in my opinion.

580 gtx will still be the gravy.

Relative performance.

Why when I read relative performance do I think about the Bulldozer charts?

Because you're an Intel fanboy? (joke, sorry couldn't help it :D :p)

I love the buzz of new cards, people arguing about guesstimations (usually against DM), red vs green, who is going to buy 3 of them vs who is waiting for x-fire for the midrange, benchmarks, then to top it off we all go through the history of AMD/Nvidia like history always repeats itself which although some of that is true, it's not fact.

Gimme both AMD and Nvidia as long as they have over 2GB. My 6950 was half the price of a GTX 580 at launch but it's not 50% slower or anywhere near so that's where I usually spend my money but with no competition, it might be £400 out my wallet after Christmas (damn you Nvidia!!!!). £200 I paid for my card last year though and I've had enjoyment out of it. I don't really need to upgrade, I just want to. Ach time will tell, roll on the real benchmark results.

What are you doing Andy?. 7 series or holding on to what you have?.

I don't believe those graphs and figures at all as the presets make absolutely no sense. Why use the high preset in BF3 on the very top end of GPU's? Since when did a 6970 = 580gtx in terms of performance? No mention of the actual models used in the test (1.5gb vs 3gb etc) or clockrates either.

Stop linking utter **** mate. When you actually see something from a reputable reviewing source, link that instead.

??? If you have issues have a whinge at DonanimHaber not at me. They have a comments section on the article webpage:

BTW,instead of getting so histerical about a "leaks" thread perhaps you should look at the pictures again.

At 2560X1600 using Ultra settings in BF3 the GTX580 is over 30% faster than an HD6970:

Perhaps you should wait a few days for actual reviews to come out. Then you can feel calmer.

To top it all off, they are also supposedly using nvidia drivers that don't even exist...

290.36, NOT 290.38...

Sigh

There are mentions of 290.38 BETA drivers in quite a few threads:

Maybe they were up for a short time and then taken down. Again not my problem. You can either whinge at DonanimHaber or Nvidia.

I really don't understand why people have a problem with a lot of these benchies with respect to the values. Sure half are likely to be fake but in terms of results you would expect the 7970 to be around 70% faster than 6970 and therefore ~45% faster than 580.

This has happened with virtually every next gen release where a die shrink has been involved as far back as I can remember.

Pretty much this. I feel like a lot of people are expecting something more like the GTX480->GTX580 and 5870->6970 jumps without really appreciating the limitations that caused such tiny performance increases between those series.

I'm not "whining" directly at you so tie up that horse your so proudly sat on.

People use this forum to make judgement calls on what to actually buy and making threads filled duff info and for people to take it all as gospel fact is an absolute joke. Thats what I'm annoyed about.

The problem is they aren't real lol. I could quite easily knock up something as equally believable based on past events in around 2 hours tops and make it look even more credible, yet I don't set out to deceive people.

Everyone knows a bunch will be fake! Don't enter a thread about graphics card results before the NDA is up and be surprised when you find fake benchmarks!
