Radeon RX 480 "Polaris" Launched at $199

Very exciting times ahead. AMD's first 14nm card and many many people clamouring for info. Hopefully tonight we get to see some solid facts and nothing silly like dual card 50% scaling with 1.83 x usage etc. Confusion at my age isn't good lol. I am hoping it is on par with a 980Ti or even slightly faster, which isn't uncomprehendable

People have been saying they're apparently from the same Korean site that benchmark above came from, and they say the general concensus over there is that it is definitely fake.

I thought I was optimistic but woah man remember its AMD here.

Could be possible.

It takes 8.4Tflops for me to reach that score though.

Someone just replaced TitanX

FAKE! The OC score I mean.

Yes apparently the OC score is where the TitanX was positioned in the original slide. Would be nice if it was true but not likely. I think at 1400MHZ the 480 might get close to around 3600 but not over 4000.

So then why would he lie about changing the cooler to avoid an NDA than he didn't sign.

Under the scenario that DM described, it would be because everyone would recognize that it wasn't a current cooler and the 'replaced to avoid NDA' sounds better than 'got this illegally and swapped the cooler so AMD couldn't identify the source.'

EDIT: That said, I still don't trust any of it until I've seen it from a reputable site. People are probably getting their hopes a little high.

Of course but if those leaked slides above are true, awesomes I say .

Edit:

Someone needs a slap. I hate when people do this fake ****.

Last time I was blown away by a new card was the 4870. It was 190 or something when the gtx280 was selling for around 500 (maybe 450). I took one look at that..sold!

I feel the bar had been set and those days are but memories now haha.

480 same has 980ti or faster I'll definitely be buying one, maybe even two.
Hopefully some surprises tonight.

If the 480 was 980ti ref capable performance (non oc) with a mild overclock on the 480 id pick one up to replace my reference 290! I'd swap it out for a vega when they came out too.

I'd prefer a 490 or something though right off the bat, but if the performance and price it right I dont mind spending 200 to 230ish on a card that I will quickly replace. I had the 290 ref from a few weeks after it launched to now and only really want to replace it so I can switch to a 1440 freesync monitor and less noise / heat.

Doubt the rx480 will reach 980 ti, even with an overclock, but ill be happy if it did. Nano performance with an overclock seems more like it or perhaps 980 is a bit more realistic.
