Radeon RX 480 "Polaris" Launched at $199

Made me giggle :)

lol

Is it going to be better performance wise than a GTX 970? I have a 7970 at the moment and was thinking of upgrading but don't know what to go for. Will definitely wait to see how this new 480 performs.

The rumours are the reference card is faster than a GTX 980, with AIB cards significantly faster than that.

Again tho, for others reading this thread, just wait, less than 2 weeks :)

Rumours are rumours. Wait for better confirmation, or.. just wait for release. I don't trust a damn thing these companies say anymore.

Sooo are the rumours of the 480 overclocked being around 1070 performance far fetched? Is it just a random rumour that's being hyped?

So in terms of bang for buck, is this card going to be better than the 1070 for 1080p gaming?

What we know for sure so far

1. AMD will release a 480 card on 29th June
2. The 4gb will cost $199 and the 8gb will be $239

What has a 95%+ chance of being true

1. Gibbo (ocuk) already has stock
2. The price might be £200 or it might be £250
3. There will be Beast cards from AIB which will cost more
4. They overclock

What may or may not be true

1. The card runs at 1.08Ghz or 1.266Ghz standard clocks
2. The card may just have base clocks or may boost like the 980/1080
3. The card may be slower than a 970 or as fast as a 1070
4. The card may overclock to 1.5Ghz on air or even 1.8Ghz on water and beat a none overclocked GTX1080. Or it may not overclock at all.
5. The card will be the second coming or the final nail in the coffin for AMD.

Just found a retailer in india has Sapphire RX 480 cards in stock and already available for sale now cost Rs.30,439 included 14.5% VAT in india translated into £317.46 and excluded VAT would be Rs.26,584 translated into £277 excluded VAT and included 20% VAT would be £332.40 due to price gouging.

Just like GTX 1070 price gouging, you will have to pay more for RX 480.

Tried searched for RX 470 and 460 but they don't have on list yet so it will be in stock in next few months.

New 460 3D Mark Leak from WCCFtech , 960/380 performance, probably sub 100$ card, which is still fairly capable of 1080p.
