Radeon RX 480 "Polaris" Launched at $199

It is good to see people excited for a GPU, so fair play to all those who will be buying or thinking of buying this. We all love some hardware here and I hope all buy for playing games :)

Agreed. I just want Amd to pull off another 4850/70 or 290x again or even 7970.

I've never spent more than £300 on gfx and I really dont want to start now.

I keep promising myself that I won't spend so much on hardware and then it all goes out the window big time. :(

Yeah same here but I am a tight yorkshireman. Hell one of my 290x with waterblock cost me £220 and the other one I added a year later cost me £180.

Even my 7970 before was £299 brand new as ocuk new shop opening offer.

My 4k screen was B grade so £300 off new price and it probably the most expensive part of my setup. The 5820 and mobo were both bargains from MM from OCUK staff.

Nice going.

If it turns out double the performance of my 780ti for £200 am buying one.

£200 has always been my limit with GPU's.

So AMD have coloured me interested. So bring out the goods you get my money. ;)

I really do hope its not all hot air and balloons, make it match the 1070 you get my dough. :)

But there will surely be more upcoming options:

1080Ti/Pascal Titan
Baby Vega
Daddy Vega

Only thing is the latter options will likely cost quite a bit more. Perhaps AMD can pull out some amazing value for baby Vega, but there's a good chance that wont come out til 2017, so it might depend on how long you can wait.

Honestly, this is the whole reason I've still not bitten on a 1440p monitor. Really creates some pressure to spend money on that GPU upgrade without many options.

Which is why I'm also waiting. A card that single-handedly do 4k60 will be able to do amazing framerates at 1440p. Alas the 1080 is not quite that, so I'm waiting for the real big guns. Of course... whether they'll be priced well is another matter and I'd have to buy a good monitor too. It could end up costing me £1.5k with current prices... I hope not. Hopefully the good monitor prices go down a bit.

i dont want to upgrade yet but this rx 480 is making me sriously think about it. i was waiting until the other side of xmas but if this surprises us as much as AdoredTV reckons it will i could be in for a big performance boost from a 970.
