Still regardless it would be quad crossfire on two cards . However, im extremely peeved that the R700 isnt coming out this year, ATi merging with AMD was a complete mistake and if they keep cutting back they are going to run ATi into the ground.

there has been no cutting back at ATi, in fact quite the opposite, ATi`s profits have actually increased over the last 12 months. ATi may be part of AMD but it still runs with a good amount of autonomy.

Ah yes the fabled gx2 of nvidia which they got every website under the sun to agree was "a single card" which was the most laughable\retarded thing ive ever read.

Be interesting to see how a true single card dual gpu design works. Rage fury maxx was crap, voodoo 5 5500 was good but slower than anticipated, can the next ati card do better.

Has ATi not made a Dual X1950Pro on one card before? I'm sure there was a review on it and in some games it was slightly faster than 1 8800GTX.

I imagine AMD hope not, same with Nvidia. Hardware SLi, so it does have to be run with special drivers, 2 cards would just be Crossfire as opposed to CrossfireX

WIll be interesting also to see how they fair at higher resolutions/AA...will bandwidth harm them like the 8800GT at higher res etc, or will they work better than normal crossfire due to the decreased latency and increased internal bandwidth for being on the same pcb?

Two things I notice from this picture

1. Looks like a single slot cooler?
   
2. Looks like the cards PCB is longer than the mobo width? (could be camera angle?)

It's a very long card, and it's dual slot. Look at the pic of the card with cooler removed - the backplate is designed for dual-slot cooling.
