RAGE on console, 360 it is then..

It's fun as long as you accept it for what it is and don't go in expecting Borderlands or Fallout 3 (like some people are weirdly)

It's a fairly on rails shooter, no more. It isn't a RPG, you won't get 60,000,000 weapons (but the ones you get are good) and you don't go around hacking computers or having lengthy conversations with everyone you see.

I'm confused tbh, like Shami said what exactly were you all thinking this would be? It's from the makers of Doom and Quake, of course it was always going to be just an out and out shooter.

Really surprised that so many are finding it boring because that's the last thing I'm getting from playing it, I'd actually put it right up there with the best FPS' I've played this year.

I wasn't meaning to, or attempting to compare it to Borderlands or Fallout. My main gripe with it are the missions. they are extremely simple and OK, granted, some do stand out, i.e dead city, but most of them are pretty weak on content. Like spending a few minutes travelling to an area for a quest item only to find that it's either deviod of life or there are a few bandits that can be dispatched within seconds.

There's all this fantastic detailed world, which begs to be explored, but there's rarely anything to find, bar bandits in their buggies trying to shoot you to pieces.

It's definitely not a bad game, far from it. I just think that with all the development time they could have made it more robust. But then, maybe I am being too hard on it. This is all of course my opinion, I respect that other peole are enjoying it.

Just finished it, ending is a little abrupt but I assume that's because of the inevitable sequel that will be on the way sooner or later

Over all though it took me just under 13 hours to go through the campaign and even then I didn't get all the cards/recipes/schematics nor did I even touch on any of the races other than those I had to do to progress with the story. Had I done all of that I reckon I'd of racked up over 15 hours easy

Very impressive graphics, nice diverse range of enemy AI and unlike some FPS' I actually had to use almost ever weapon in the game rather than just stick to one or two. Only the lack of story and why you were doing all these missions for all these different people with no backup let the game down marginally.

8/10 :)

AR's?

I found the wingsticks handy in some situations but come Jackal Canyon and Capital Prime they weren't doing much damage so had to bring out the plasma ammo

Ah I see, I didn't buy the Assault Rifle, the other one though I used a lot with the Plasma ammo on the final level

I am another who got bored of the game and sold it on.

I wasn't expecting a cross between Fallout and Borderlands.

However, I think for an our and out shooter I didn't like the 'quest' system. In my eyes, a quest system like this just meant very little story progression, or at least fairly slow or disjointed story progression. For an out and out shooter i'd just prefer a plot which is progressed without having to complete quests for people. It makes it feel like you're just doing errands and the story just takes a back seat.
In a game like Borderlands, this is fine because you earn EXP and Skill Points to progress your character, giving these quests an alternate purpose.

That aside, the gameplay was perfectly fine. The mechanics of the game and how it played were just what you'd want.
I think maybe I'm also just getting bored of the post apocalyptic environment. It may not compare with Borderlands gameplaywise but the world was identical and I guess after putting SO much time into Borderlands i'm just sick of the run down desert towns and bandits.

So...basically it's probably something i'll pick up at a later date and I may appretiate it more then.
But when trying to play it last week i didn't find myself saying 'this sucks' but also didn't have any desire to keep on playing.

I'd describe is as 'neither here nor there' I guess for me. One to watch out for in a gaming drought - which certainly is NOT now. lol

I had a look at this round a mates and I wasn't overly impressed with the look of it, possibly sitting a bit too close to his 32" LCD (I use a 23"). It's plenty fluid though, but I didn't really play it for long enough to comment on the rest.

Demo for this is now out on XBL. I tried it last night it looks a lot crisper on my 23" monitor than my mates smeary 32" LCD TV. Seemed ok, but the type of game that needs to be played with a walk though. The RSB cancelling your weapon firing to do a melee is a bit annoying.
