please someone with knowledge be up as im waitng for an ebay auction at 8!

basically i have a maxtor sata 80 gig 8MB buffer hdd and am looking at buying a new one and found some on ebay.

My maxtor is diamondmax 10 but the ones im looking at are diamondmax 9, but have all the same specs apart from this?

will they still work effectively in raid 0?

thanks

You can run RAID0 with non-identical drives but it's nto recommended. The data is evenly split between the two drives so to retrieve a file the system has to wait for bits of it from each drive. Therefore if one drive is faster than the other the controller continually has to wait for the other drive to catch up.

As long as the drives are relatively close in performance then it isn't a huge hit but you're better off getting a matched pair if you can.
