I have a Samsung 840 EVO 250GB but I need some extra space. I don't mind running RAID 0 and this was going to be the path to take but I can get the 850 250GB cheaper than the 840 now.

Would it cause any problems running a 840 and 850 together in RAID 0 or should I really get another 840?

Mixing different brand drives (and even different sizes) is fine BUT the EVO 840 still has slow down issues. When Samsung issued the previous fix (which didn't fully work) it couldn't be applied to drives in a RAID array. When the new fix is released it seems likely the same will be true.

yes, if you have the Samsungs in raid the magician software cannot detect them so you cannot install any firmware updates etc and the software becomes useless.

I had w 840 evos in raid and couldn't tell any signs of the system being faster in gaming compared to them being as single drives so I went back to having a OS drive and a games drive as this way I could still use their software and install firmware updates with no issues or having to do it from a USB stick
