RAID 0 - does Vista OS contain drivers already?

Hi,

anyone know where i can get a fully working 32bit and 64bit driver for the DFI Lanparty Nforce4 ultra-d board. been trying to get this working all afternoon with no luck.

MurphyOCF I've just started Vista64 installing to a newly created Raid0 using 2 Samsung Spinpoint T HDDs on the IP35 Pro. Seems to work fine, no need to load additional drivers.

Cool, i tried to set my bios to raid last night (where you can choose IDE/RAID/ACHI) but it said i had two hdds that were not raid compatible? (2 WD AAKS') the screen came up for me to setup the array <ctrl+i> but nothing happened, it just went to a "windows did not close down properly last time" business  Any help much appreciated :(

EDIT: is it that i really do need the raid edition drives? mine are the SE's i hope not

Can you slow down a bit and explain more clearly a) what you are trying to achieve and b) what actions you took.

You don't need the RAID edition drives, they're exactly the same as the SEs but with higher quality bearings etc optimised for 24*7 operation.

It took me a fair few restarts to get it configured.

You do need to go into the Raid setup utility (Ctrl+I) and create a Raid0 array there. For some reason I struggled to get into the util for a while, but that could have been down to the voltages the board was defaulting to.

You need to get into that util, after that everything should be fine. Your BIOS options are configured for Raid because you are seeing the option for the utility appear.

Okay well im trying to put my two WD AAKS' into RAID 0 on an ABIT IP35 Pro, i start by changing the bios SATA setting for them to RAID as opposed to IDE which is the default, then i save and reboot, on the restart it comes up on the post screen with my two drives and states non compatible raid hdd next to both drives with the text "for configuration utility press <ctrl+i>..." which then does nothing, at this point i get to the windows safe mode screen. Hope that helps? i must be missing something

AHHH Thanks n3crius for your help ill give it another go tonight, Thanks rpstewart is the above any clearer?

Do you have a USB keyboard? Is Legacy USB support turned on in the BIOS?

Is there data on the drives already? You do realise that you'll lose this when you create the RAID0 array?

I do have a USB keyboard, should i turn on legacy support then? Yes there is Data on the drives but only from sunday when i built it basically just Vista and CoH OF so i could check out how good the 8800GTX is  I probably could have waited but hey i was excited:o

Lastnight I knew that if I didn't get the Raid0 setup in time I would install Vista for a night or so anyway just to check it all out :p

Nvidia's site, make sure you on the Nvidia SATA ports not others (prob Silicon or Promise) as you want on the PCI-E Bus not PCI Bus.

Thanks for the reply. They are the drivers i got yesterday. I extracted the IDE\WinVista64 folder which contains the raidtool, sata_ide and sata raid folders and stuck them on my pendrive. When it got to the stage of installing the driver and i pointed vista to the sataraid folder it said it could find any drivers ???

Anyone have any ideas, im sure its not that hard, im probably just doing something silly.

the mobo i have is a dfi lanparty ultra D skt 939. My raid zero setup is 2x 36 gig raptors.
