Raid 1 = 1 drive?

Hi guys, just installed 2 new drives in Raid 1 for the first time but its only displaying 1 drive in windows, is this right?

Yes thats correct, from my understanding RAID 1 is a mirror image of your drive.

Should either drive fail the other drive takes over until the damaged/broken drive is replaced.

Instead of seeing two individual drives you see the raid device.

cheers. just recieved 2x 7200.11 1.5TB Seagate drives and 1 started clicking immediately. I knew these drives had problems but I didn't know it lasted a whole year. Super annoyed right now.
