I have a lot of important data which I currently keep on a 1TB external HDD and I will occasionally make a second backup of this but it is time consuming and I would rather have something which does this automatically.

I am now thinking about going RAID 1 with two 1TB drives but I want this to be in an enclousure / external since I will only be using it as a backup drive for which I will not require to access the data everyday.

I have seen a few solutions from Icy Box but was wondering if anyone who does this at the moment can give me a few pointers or tips into what to look for.

If the enclousre has USB 3 support it will be an bonus.

Any help will be much appreciated.

It will be for DAS and willing to spend up to £100 just for the enclousure. I will get 2 low powered 5400 RPM drives because it will be purely for backup so speed not an issue.

Could get one of these "HP ProLiant MicroServer - The ideal first server for small businesses, now with £100 cashback!" its £199 online atm, so £99 after cashback, it supports 4 drives, ther eis a huge thread on here about them in the server forum.

Otherwise your looking at a netgear readynas or something, but they are similar price and only support 2 drives.
