RAID 5 or 10

Edit;

I will have the 4 disks in Raid 0, I will then have a 200-300GB shortstroke for OS and Games then have the rest as a big data partition. Can I create the back up image on the data partition then simply move the folder to my server?

Can I place the image on a Network Share? The image won't be 2TB, I will use a max of about 500GB in total.

Sorry, I have no idea.

Wherever the image is stored it would need to be accessible when booting from a Windows 7 recovery CD and I don't know if you could access a Network Share.

Sorry about all the questions...

Do you think I would be able to move the image from the share to an external HDD and then use it from there? Then I can keep the disk image on the share unless I need it?

You can only backup to a network location with win 7 pro and above. I recommend Acronis Trueimage 2011. I use it at home and 2 seperate backups.

One Everynight backups up my 500gb partiton on my RAID 1 to the NAS box. The other one every sunday takes a image of my 1tb WD Black incase of OS drive failiure.

Windows backup is very basic and is missing buckets of feature acronis has. For $50 its a worth while investment.

Is there a limit on the ammount of images you can make? Could I image a couple of different OS's? Or am I limited to 1 computer?

Just done a fresh install. 4 x 500GB in Raid0, 250GB short stroke and get this...

Does that seem low? I was expecting 400-500MB/s read speeds. I did a 64K Stripe.

Just realised that 2 of my drives are running 1AJ100E5 firmware and 2 are running 1AJ100E4. Would this make a big difference?

Having differing firmware has made no differences to any of my arrays in my experience. The most important factor is to have drives of the same specification and size.

I dont understand why a 4 disk raid 0 is slower at 512K and 4K writes. The last Raid0 was a 128K stipe, this is 64? Is that why?

So enabling makes my HD tune results much much better, but Crystal Disk Mark is a lot worse! Should I enable it or not??
