Hi, Would it be o.k. to use 5 300gb SATA Maxtor drives on a Raid 5 when 3 of them are slightly differant, basically they are the newer SATA 2 drives (but will only be set at SATA 1)
Shouldn't be a problem. I've got a mix of Hitachi 7K250s and T7K250s running quite happily in RAID5 at the moment and I've done it in the past with all manner of mixed combinations of SCSI drives.
