Raid question

Hi all,

Im thinking of rebuilding my setup for win7... I have two of the same 500GB SATA drives and Im thinking about running them in RAID, perhaps a stripe for performance?

The only issue at the moment is that I have nearly 500GB of files so....

Could I build win7 on the spare disk (empty) and then copy the data from the full drive onto the freshy built disk and then format and insert the "full" disk into the stripe?

There's no way I'd try a migration to RAID without a full backup. A new 500Gb HDD is only £40 after all.

If you only have 2xdrives and want to stripe them then the answer is "no".

Creating the array will wipe both disks.
