Hey, basically, would I be able to RAID two 250Gb Barracudas with different ST*********** numbers? Same capacity, cache etc... Ta in advance.
Yes, you can, ideally the drives should be from the same batch but if you can't get that then two otherwise identical drives is the next best bet.
There are folk who advocate that approach but it's of absolutely no benefit for RAID0 because if one drive goes the whole array's gone anyway.From what I read, it is best not to get 2 hdd from the same batch. As if one fails it is likely the 2nd one to fail soon after.
