Hi there,

I have a RAID setup and the Intel utility is reporting that a hard drive has failed and needs replacing.

All the hard drives are Seagate 250GB (4 in total).

The only hard drive I have to replace it is a 1TB drive. Would this be compatible, or does it need to match the other drives exactly.

Your help is much appreciated.

Regards

Robert

it would work but you would loose the other 750gig of the drive its better to match the drives in raid but not necessary

generally though same make and model is preferable

Thanks for your help. Will have to settle for the 1TB drive.

When the new drive is installed, will it automatically rebuild or do I need to run the Intel program.

The array should automatically rebuild, if you fire up the Intel utility it should confirm the status.

It's worth noting that there's nothing stopping you yanking the 1Tb drive later if you lay your hands on a smaller drive.
