Having trouble setting up a bootable array.

Im using a asus P5n32 SE sli-delux, which has an nforce 4 chipset, so there fore uses nvraid as the controller.

As far as im aware iv set everything up correctly. I have plugged the 2 hard drives (1TB barracudas) into the fist and second sata ports. then enabled the Nvraid option in ide configuration and enabled for 1st and 2nd sata device. (iv heard it doesn't work if u use 4th sata device for some reason) and also changed the onboard sata controller to raid mode. Then saved and rebooted. Hit f10 when prompted to go into raid configuration utility. Then set up the raid for striped and selected the 2hds and created it. Then gone back into bios. and make in hard drive boot priority the raid drive as primary. Then gone back into the raid setup, but from there i cant apply "set boot" to the array, it is grayed out and under boot in the raid info it says n/a. Any ideas what iv done wrong and how to fix?? am i missing a setting?

Also the array works fine if a boot with another HD and use it just as storage, but i would have preferred it if it had the OS on it.

I don't remember having to set anything in the RAID bios to get an Nforce4 array to be bootable. Have you tried installing an OS on it at all?

you havent missed anything, unless you have to set it as bootable when you create the array? I only have experience on raid for my nforce 7 ultra chipset, and an silicon image controller, and i hvent tried booting off an array, as i couldnt make my raid 5 bootable as it was over 2tb.
As above, have you tried just installing an os onto it?

yeh. installed windows 7 onto it. Seemed to install fine, although it did take about 4 hours, but after installation had been completed and i had set all the final settings (time date, computername etc) and the computer restarted windows did not boot. Just black screen.

Installing OS again, ill see what happens this time perhaps something went wrong.
