I am not having much luck...after 1 drive dying, I turned on the PC today and 1 of the drives was red in the ICHR9 bootup screen.

Windows worked as normal, but then stopped working. I deleted the array and re-created it, and its green again. Reinstalling Windows now

The only thing that was left running was Windows Update. Is it possible it downloaded a "rogue" driver? Would it have caused the HD to fail in the array?

it is unlikely to be a driver problem. It is not always necessary to delete the array, sometimes just a shutdown and restart will do the trick, with you selecting 'mark array as normal' in the software. It is a shame that you have deleted it, but something to remember for the future. It is also worthwhile checking all power and data cables to the drives, change the data ones if you are able. Most drive 'faults' that I have come across have been sorted by an exchange cable, very odd but true. I hope that this helps

Thanks for that, I tried restarting and shutting down and it wouldnt go away, eventually Windows stopped working.

I have reinstalled Windows and seems fine...for now!

take an image of the working install, weekly

acronis true image, buy that, then use the bootable cd

Its more than likely a loose cable on one of your drives, if it reported it in red...

There's no way it would be working now otherwise is there?

The red text means nothing other than...

1 or more of your drives has not been detected correctly

There's no scanning of the surface or files or whatever going on at all!

I do prefer it, Vista feels way better I must say, you do notice it and the reviews that say you don't perplex me but if this keeps happening I will end up going to a single drive, which I hope does not happen.

Rubbish.

Your system just isn't setup correctly.

I have tried Raid0 on a number of occasions and l always go back to my 150 GB Raptor as my boot drive.

I agree with this, I never really got much hard drive thrash, the only time you might do is initial first sessions after install. Then again I do I have 8gb RAM.

On the contrary, the little things like installers being faster, games loading quicker etc is more than enough for me to give it a thumbs up.
