RAID0 with OCZ Vertex SSDs?

Hi all,

Back when OcUK were doing the pre-order deal on OCZ Vertex drives I picked up a couple of 120GB OCZ Vertex drives (not Vertex 2/2E/3), one for each of my Win7 PCs.
Since I don't look forward to re-installing every bit of software and configuring it on 2 PCs I've managed to put off installing them. Now I'm looking to upgrade the motherboard in one of the PCs to an AM3+ board that supports SATA III. So now I'm getting greedy and thinking that I should get a 128GB Crucial M4 SSD (the firmware upgrade sold me) for that PC.
This would leave me with 2 x 120GB Vertex drives. I'm wondering if I should risk RAID0-ing the 2 OCZ drives I already own? The more I read about the Crucial M4s the more I see people commenting on the unreliability of OCZ drives and putting 2 in RAID0 would double that risk!
But it would give a performance boost wouldn't it? Plus it'd give me ~240GB of SSD space.
Would I be better off RAID1-ing the drives?
Or just selling 1?
Or forgetting the M4 and just go with my original plan and run a SATA II SSD on what will now be a SATA III motherboard (hopefully)?

Thanks!

I personally would never use RAID0 on anything, including SSD's - I would personally buy another Vertex 2 and use RAID 5 for speed and redundancy, but hey only my 2c. And of course to use a SATA III motherboard with the Intel controller and not Marvel.

I raided two 60gb ocz vertex for about 2 years and had no problems whatsoever and very fast read/write rates of circa 500mb/s. Only juts upgraded to 2 agility 3's and am having no problem with thsoe either.

How long have you had OCZ drives, with zero problems ? And you're listening to the hype saying they're unreliable
I've had the Vertex 2E, now in my flatmates rig cos I've upgraded to the Agility 3, both have been fantastic :D
Maybe the Crucial M4 is a good drive, but it's not as quick as OCZ drives(even after the firmware upgrade)
It seems to me a lot of these SO called problems with OCZ drives are PICNIC's (Problem In Chair Not In Computer), if they are installed and set up correctly they're a brilliant SSD drive :D

For the first time, we also integrate SSDs in this article type. The rates of failure recorded by manufacturer:

- Intel 0.59%
- Corsair 2.17%
- Crucial 2.25%
- Kingston 2.39%
- OCZ 2.93%

Intel stands here with a failure rate of the most flattering. Among the few models sold over 100 copies, displays a rate of no more than 5% VAS.

You're unlikely to see issues with any SSD anytime soon, eitherway.

I've had them since 30th May 2011.
To be fair I'd be really worried if I'd noticed any problems with them since they're both still in the sealed anti-static bags sitting on a self. :)

You never know, some people on here would say they did the same and the drives broke out of the bags jumped off the shelf and committed suicide :p
