I have a samsung 830 128gb SSD, can I raid with any other SSD or does it have to be the same? Also does it have to be 128gb as well?
Is there much of a boost performance wise?

While you can raid different drives the general view is don't.

To minimize issues and errors you raid like for like drives.

The performance benefit depends on the type of raid you set up.

Raid 0 - Increases read/write
Raid 1 - Mirrors the drives

There are other types of raid but they are the commons ones.

So if you raid 2 Samsung 830 128gb ssds in raid 0 it will deliver up to twice the read write speeds of your current drive.

Ok thats great thanks, I was hoping I could pair up an 840.
Raid 0 was the one I wanted

The strength of SSDs is largely super low access/seek times, which RAID does not boost. Adding a few hundred MB/s read/write will make 0 difference to your user experience. IMHO
