Rail Simulator

EA .. is this an expansion for The Sims?

Good point. EA are well know for shovel-wear. I find it bizzare they are going to publish such a minor genre.

A shame EA are involved - they can hardly be noticed for their realism. I don't think its such a minor genre. The original MSTS seemed widely available - and the shear content around from the community is still immense. I suppose its the same kind of thing as flight simulators - just for trains (which propably seem less cool!)

Let's hope that it is as versatile and open ended as MSTS in terms of creating "home brew" rolling stock.

There is still a thriving community of MSTS enthusiasts who have created a massive array of UK rolling stock and routes.

For those interested www.uktrainsim.com is a very useful site...

Keyboard and mouse is all you need :)

isnt that the best bit ? or is it when you press the brakes
lol sorry ive never played one of these...is there any skill involved (not trying to mock)...but what is it all about ?

I'm pretty sure there's a fair amount of skill involved.. I remember my brother playing rail sim when it first came out, running a steam train trying to attach the right cars in the right order up a hill and getting stuck every time unable to do a hill start... :)

I borrowed MSTS from a friend of mine for a few days and must admit that it was quite intriguing initially, particularly the steam trains having to build up pressure etc etc, but after not that long I got rather boerd of driving safely along, so I just tended to jump in a train, get up as much speed as possible and headinto a tight corner much to fast just to see how spectacular a crash I could manage!!! :o) Even that got dull for me quite quickily.

I can see how it can be fascinating to play but not really my cup of tea.
