to me, it is clear that the "red-shirt" that i am referring to is not the attire of the recurring crew, but the generalisation of the new crew member.
it is this new crew member that always wears a red shirt, and is usually of the rank Ensign.

I never watch the rubbish so wouldn't know about the ensign bit or whatever, it just confused me the way you wrote it and then appeared to believe there was no problem with what you wrote thats all
