Rainbow 6: Siege - Closed Beta

Can't answer that im afraid. Bad planning? They can live with people complaining about the issue cause they know it'll be fine on launch?

I don't think it's bad planning at all. And I don't think it's anything to do with stress testing servers.

It's actually genius planning, create a shoddy game but flood the market with free beta keys. Catch a high enough percentage of mugs who get conned into thinking the game will be ok on launch and you're onto a winner.

I hope I'm proved wrong, I'd love another great R6 game. Loved Vegas back on the Xbox360. But this just smells off.

Servers can't cope with existing numbers of players, so let's bung out 1000's more beta keys. That makes no sense other than to try and increase your rate of capture (or rather con) of customers.

They are dedicated but they use p2p for voice chat and this is making the game server have issues..
The players connect to the server but that server also picks a player to host communications when that player DC they need to improve this.
A Dev was on forums other day explaining.

Exactly, it's still P2P, it's still relying on others and thus causes issues.

I got chance to play this last weekend and honestly didn't like the beta, I really hope, with other maps and the full launch of the game i will enjoy it, I need a new shooter!

I'm a huge rainbow fan but I have to say so far I'm not that impressed. Also the graphics are very underwhelming. :(

You've hit on the 2 main issues I have...
  • it's not a Rainbow 6 game. At all!
  • the graphics are staggeringly poor for a AAA game!

but I thank Ubi$oft for the chance to try the beta and thus remove the game from my 'to buy' list :)

Have to agree about the graphics, did the benchmark and thought the graphics very poor. What I've seen in game it doesn't look great either. Betas are a bit of a poisoned chalice as if the experience is poor then it could actually put people off rather then encouraging some to buy it.
