Rainbow Six Vegas, Difficulty

I thought that the 8800 series could do aa and hdr at the same time??? thats why it looks jaggy lol still im happy iot runs at 45-70+ fps most of the time its really good with a mouse and keyboard.

it doesn't recognise dual core I think...

I'm running 7900, UNCLOCKED, and a intel 3ghz pent D. 2 gigs ram and its on high res (low shadows)and getting 30 fps.

So... who knows....

Game is cool. Very cool.

Get some buddies on hamachi and team speak and set up a lan game clearing a building. Very funny.

Not sure what everyones on about I'm running the game without patch on all high settings and im pulling between 75-120 FPS. Heres my specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
Asus 8800GTX
Asus P5B Deluxe
OCZ 2GB PC6400 Gold
OCZ Gamexstream 600W

Got the game today and i was a bit anxious while installing as i was thinking would i have the major slowdowns what everyone else was having.
But my anxiety vanished when i started playing im one of the lucky ones there was hardly any slowdown only in big fights and then it only drops too about 52fps :)
Im having a lot of fun, im playing it on normal and im on mission 4 or 5 i think.

I was a little disappointed with the lack of high tactics that you could plan in the original rainbow six gold edition that i currentl own.
Having not played RS would you say that is better than the orignal game.

played a bit of multiplayer tonight:

of the 4 players the host was ok and the 3 others all crashed to desktop the first time we searched for the game

I was getting 20fps max at times I suspect with an X6800 chip 2gb ram and a 8800GTX on a 680i board so there needs to be some patching I reckon.

I will try it with the shadows off.

Visually it's a bit dissapointing to be honest, square wheels, the inside of the helicoptor looking like it was ported from Quake

I think I need to give this a bit more time to get used to it as the controls are less than intuative too...

Theres something really dodgy about this game. I was playing before and it was running really laggy when looking in certain directions and then shortly after that, the game crashed to desktop with some error. So I ran the game again and when I reached the exact same area (where it was running laggy before), it ran silky smooth this time.

I also think the game is more CPU limited if anything since the level of graphical complexity of a scene does not seem to correlate to the drops in framerate. For example in many areas I'm just staring at a desk in a closed room and the fps just drops for no apparent reason.

I'm running the game at 1280x960 (everything maxed out except motion blur which is at high) and get around 20-50fps which playable for this type of game. This is on an A64 2.5ghz, x1900xt 512mb, 2gb ddr400 ram and for everyone who's is moaning, no the game does not look better on the 360! Looks virtually identical to the full 720p videos/screens I've seen of the game on the 360.

I must admit i can be one to swear a lot when playing PC games with my mates but....Does anyone else think the way the Terrorists shout can be a bit OTT. we all couldnt stop laughing at the constant outbursts from the tangos.

I agree and its the same thing with a few other ubisoft games (splinter cell chaos theory comes to mind). I mean its funny at times when you're sneaking up on a few soldiers and catch them in conversation, but when you're in the middle of an intense firefight and constantly hear the same ridiculous voice shouting out the same line over and over again it does spoil the atmosphere. Ubisoft should just avoid wasting money on voice acting and cut the crap out altogether.

Yeh man its funny, like when the 2 terrorists were talking about shopping at tescos or buying some flowers for his granny! (joke) :p

If people are getting low fps even on a g80 then the games problem could be with the CPU: as I said on another post, I get extra 5fps by booting up on 1 core, if that helps anyone.

As far as I'm aware the game uses a modified Unreal2 engine & I think the first PC game to use the Unreal3 engine will be UT2007.

Nope its roboblitz.

hmmm this is interesting,

RB6:Vegas runs flawlessly on the 360 (judging from my copy) with zero slowdown and I would have to say it also looks better than the screenshots currently posted in this thread.

I am wondering if performance wise this is more down to a poor port rather than poor coding although I am unsure what platform it was made for first.

I am quite glad I got it on the 360 rather than getting on the pc (my little 7600GT would die poor thing).

Also to reply to the op the game is very difficult in certain places definately.

Have you tried coop terrorist hunt (is that available on the pc?!) on realistic and with high enemy density.

Sometimes you open a door and there will be like 6 enemies all there at once, The 'tangos' also have a nice tendancy to flank you quite realistically.

Once you really start playing tactically it becomes 'easier'.

It does spoil the atmosphere, it would be cool to shout a few things, but when its over and over countless times it gets really tiresome.

Does this game require you to install physx drivers like graw? That might be why its so slow cos of physics objects.

I dont think so. I remember in GRAW there was a seperate installer at the end to install the drivers. Didnt see anything like that when installing Vegas

I've got the 360 version and am only playing on a standard CRT. The graphics IMO are amazing as a life long fan of the series. I can't think of many FPS's that come close to it (on PC or X-Box).
