Hey guys,

Dunno how many of you here use it, but I recently tried RainX on the e46, and with the recent heavy rainfall, I have been amazed at how good it is.

As a test on Sunday, on the motorway doing 85mph in torrential rain, where most cars would have required to have the wipers on at full whack, even having the wipers off for sustained periods of time was completely feasible, I actually tried it on a quiet section of motorway and I honestly could drive and see comfortably in heavy rain with the wipers switched to off, water was literally falling off the windscreen. Sounds far fetched, but it really isnt, the water beads very quickly and then goes up over the top of the car.

If anyone hasn't tried it, TRY IT!

PS don't just get the spray or the wipes it has to be the proper liquid stuff you apply to a cloth
 
I found it pants. Perhaps I didn't put it on properly but when I was doing slow speeds and HAD to use the wipers, it just smeared crap all over my windscreen and I couldn't see a thing hardly! :(

I really wanted it to work aswell.

the first time i tried it on the mondeo i had similar results, not qutie sure why, so i threw it to the back of the cupboard.....tried it again and spent more time making sure the windscreen was clean beforehand and it was far far better.
 
I've been in a couple of cars with RainX applied and yeah, it's very very good stuff.

I'm going to have to get some I think.

and what about in extremely torrential rain when there is still a patch between wipes where there is water there? Complete none issue with rainx
 
I will have to give rainX a try, i have used a clay bar on the front windscreen and had similar results to what your describing.

I don't have a rear wiper, or wipers on the side windows, so I find RainX useful on them. Don't need it on the windscreen though.
 
ive been using halfords own brand stuff for years and i find it helps a lot, the rain just beads off so you dont have to use your wipers as much. i find the screen doesnt get as mucky with the rain repellent on also.
 
It's good, but if you decide to use your wipers in traffic, it smears like crazy.

It works well on side windows.
 
Works well in the rain. I found when you clean the screen in summer though whilst driving (screenwash and wipers) it causes the screen to smear a lot. Other than that good product IMO.
 
Used it on a couple of cars now, amazing stuff.

Also brilliant in cold weather as the frost doesn't form on the glass properly.


Not considered the clay bar idea, worth a try as an alternative i think :)
 
Its a great product if applied correctly. You have to really work it into the screen to it fills all the micro holes. Most people just wax on /wax off and expect miricles. Also, as mentioned using a clay bar before really helps as it removes all the bonded on crap. The goal is to get the screen as smoth/flat as possible. A bit like lapping a heatsink or CPU.
 
I have used it on and off in the past. I don't like the effect it has on windscreens, I'd rather use my wipers, but we used to use it a lot on the side windows.
 
It's fine for a while and as long as you keep re-applying it regularly.
If you don't, it goes off and eventually smears like crazy reducing visibility to nil.

I think the stuff is dangerous on the windscreen TBH.
