RAM prices about to go crazy??

Haven't they said the two fabs that have gone were being re purposed for NAND production rather than DDR anyway and they weren't even running at the time as thats what went wrong when they were fitting the new equipment?
So how on earth this would effect Nvidias DDR supply I have no clue being as they had stopped production on it on them two fabs?
 
Haven't hynix already said that none of their important equipment was damaged and will be moved to another factory. Also that the fire was smaller than the pictures imply

"While there are some pictures of the fab surrounded by large dark smoke being circulated, please be informed that the damage is not as severe as it seems," Park said.

"The smoke was created because the fire was concentrated in the air purification facilities that are linked to the rooftop of the fab."

Being a born cynic its obviously a ploy to up the price of ram to increase profits. Same thing happened recently with hard drives, supposed shortage, prices more than doubled, didn't seem to be a shortage of drives at all, they are still not back at pre problem prices. Meh! Glad I bought that cheap Kingston HyperX way back, still lying unopened, 8Gb still plenty. ;)

So massive panic right now and the prices are rocketing like crazy, if this calms down next week they will settle but unfortunately at new highs. If the problem is as bad as some of making out then pricing could get truly crazy.......

If pricing gets 'crazy' then the majority of us will just wait it out.

Personally, I couldn't care less about the reasons for high prices. I know what products are worth to me, and what I'll pay for them. If reality doesn't meet my expectations, I'm happy to go without.

That must sound like crazy talk to some people tho ;) AMD 7950s were selling at £400 ish initially, weren't they... actually selling at that price...

And nV's entire range is overpriced, but still flies off the shelves. I guess it's just me after all. :p
 
I would like to know the breakdown cost of a Graphics card before and after the "disaster"

like 30% gpu, 15%mem, 5% capacitors.. something like that.

and see what the memory prices will do on the final price.
