Random 3D printing chatter

The other issue is lofts are very dusty, that’s a far from ideal environment.

You're not wrong but the P1S has an enclosure so in that respect it's not very different from my X1C...and that lives in my shed/workshop with no problems. That gets sawdust, grinding dust, metal swarf etc blown about and I've not had a single problem so far. Not ideal on paper but also unlikely to be a problem in real life.

I really want to buy before the P1S sales ends Friday but don't really have any space.
Just had a look, some very tempting deals :o

My dad was looking at replacing his P1S with an H2S, might wait and see what he’s doing with the P1S though !

Today's 3d printing thought - I have a roll with about 200g of bambu black PLA. I can't think of what to make with it because it's not enough for anything big but I don't fancy anything small in black, I've realised I'm not a fan of just pure black fllament. But I don't have that many spools so I can't just put it in a box and pick out something colourful.

Currently have my eyes set on the riser that has the tilty thing for the AMS, and also a bottom drawer/poop catcher combo.

What to do

That's far too sensible, get out of here with your rational suggestions! More seriously, I kind of want the spool back because it's one of the good ones official from bambu, so I can load some TPU or PETG and dry it in my fancy new AMS 2 pro. I suppose I could respool it onto another spool, one of my basic PLA ones, would that be the sensible thing to do?

You can't/shouldn't be running TPU from an AMS. Drying it, fine but printing it may cause you problems as it's too soft. That said, I shouldn't be printing PETG-GF from the AMS but I do, and it's fine.
As for what to do with the 200g of black? Easy. You decide on the riser or thing you want to print, get started, realise that 200g isn't going to cut it, order more, print it all and end up with 300g of black that you don't want! :D

Yes that's much more like it, don't forget I still wouldn't have that spool back :D. Yeah I meant dry it, I think I got the tpu that is OK to print direct from the AMS but I know it's best just hung off the side anyway. The printing off of the AMS was for a spool of really cool orange PETG I got that needs dried, it's a really nice colour but started stringing and has been outside on a knackered PLA spool for a while (hopefully it'll be OK again after a dry)

Dang I had my first detached part. I keep my plate clean, in this case I think it was the aux fan as I had a bunch of things printing and one right next to it. The first couple of layers seemed to print OK but then at some point it pulled off the plate. Will be switching the aux fan off for big prints in future as I generally just have the door and roof open when printing.
I've just left to to finish the rest of the pieces and carry on printing spaghetti for the one that came off.

Delayed response to last post - got distracted and forgot to hit post :D
There is a 'TPU for AMS' which is approved for the AMS but it's harder/stiffer than the usual 95A stuff.

For the adhesion issue: You're probably using IPA to clean the plate - which is fine but certainly when printing PLA after printing PETG, you get some sort of oil on the plate that makes the PLA peel off and that IPA won't touch. Take the plate off, give it a rub with a couple of drops of Fairy liquid, rinse it, dry it, slap it back on again.

That and printables.com
Grabcad.com/library is useful for some 3D models if you're designing things - eg some watercooling fittings and pumps are available to drop into a design/layout.

McGybeer does some decent articulated Dragons if you wanna follow the crowd ;)

Awwww, yeeeahh!

That Pepsi Max bottle print looks really good.

I don’t do much in the way of multi colour printing and am more than happy with my H2S, certainly once I’d changed the faulty motor and got it working again, but part of me really fancies getting a H2C.
