Random 3D printing chatter

Bambu really showing their true colours now but unfortunately for them Louis Rossman found out :D Sold my A1 a little while ago not because of this but I'm not sure I would ever consider buying anything else from them again

Glad to see it. As I said in the other thread, I actually switched to Prusa when I needed a second printer (Core One) after the last fiasco, however I was getting tempted back with their H2D for a third but not anymore. I also find it odd how their trust pilot went from IIRC 2 stars up to 4.5 in the space of 2 weeks roughly 6 months back.

I very nearly bought the X1 Carbon this time last year, but they started to tighten up about the same time, so I went Kobra S1 instead, glad I did now.

Is it good? No. Is it enough to make me not use what is by far the best printer and ecosystem for quality vs engineering vs easy of use? Also no.

You name a medium to large to giant tech company, they have had and continue to have similar stuff like this. The bigger you get, the more aggressively you try to keep people using and paying for your products and to protect your IP.

I bet you use a ton of companies in your daily life that are guilty of far worse than what BL are doing now.

Entirely true, but thats the thing with choice, if you have a choice you can go elsewhere, its not like they have a majority...

Thanks, was just watching some fusion videos while on a train and it seems pretty intuitive!

Have a week booked off in June and going to be dedicating most of the week breaking the back of learning it, will see how we go!

The series that @Tackle_Berry linked to is great, that's how I started learning Fusion. Some videos are a bit out of date (he's refreshing them) and some are better played at 25% or 50% speed :D.

One video that was a revelation to me is the one below, if you're the type to sketch designs on paper or use real world objects to design parts. Take images of them, place them as canvas, scale then trace, and you'll have an object in to time.

Yea if i was to buy a printer it would be this...

Each to their own, but it looks like a low rent version compared to a Bambu P1S Combo, having the filament external rather than in a sealed unit like AMS also surely isn't helpful with regards to more hygroscopic materials like PETG

For a home purchaser it probably doesn't matter, but parts availability is also a lot more limited (Elegoo no official time period, whereas Bambu state
5 years)

Yes but is the double the price and a more locked down approach and a very questionable etho's of the company worth it?

This is also a option from a better more established company

Prusa Core One https://www.prusa3d.com/product/pru...hh2MXqIcQO07vFL1lbh2uWyx_3bwS2voaApEcEALw_wcB

I diddnt know it was that cheap the bambo. i think i was refering to the model above that which is unfair i guess. not bad price. Still is it worth it? even if they were same price, is the ethos and the lockdown of there software worth considering over cenaur carbon 2?

Absoltely would not give a penny to Bambu.

Even if the Bambu was cheaper, and better, I'd buy from another brand

Wouldn't affect my choice - as a current Bambu owner, I'd happily buy another. The "lockdown" is personally irrelevant to me when Bambu's software does what I need, and I don't agree with the Ethos of a lot of companies e.g. Microsoft, but ultimately the products that these "bad" companies produce often do a better job.

Each to their own. I guess you'd probably also not buy a Tesla?

No I wouldn't buy a Tesla, can't stand the company or that *****.

Giving Bambu labs is like giving money to conmen, you're just helping and aiding their conduct.
