Random 3D printing chatter

Has anyone here bought one of those double sided smooth/textured build plates?
Are there any decent inexpensive ones to look out for our is it best to get an official one (Bambu Labs in my case)?
 
I have one and I got so annoyed at getting the warning that the build plate detection step failed I went back to the stock textured one that came with my printer at a higher temperature and it's been fine

Do you have an expressive printer? I've only got a P1S, which I don't think has build plate detection.

I just like the idea of having the option for a smooth build plate but also just a 2nd build plate so I can kick off a second build while waiting for one to fully cool and release.

I really only use the supertack cool plates with PLA/petg and have had virtually nil failures since.
I have the textured plates, but have had some troubles with lifting print.
I also have the carbon fibre / patterned plates and they appear to have been pretty good when I have used them.

I get most of mine from a far eastern cheap site and they have been spot on, usually cheaper than Bambu.
 
Well it's arrived today! Way quicker delivery than expected. Even the extras and my filament order turned up as well. Only think missing is the AMS HT but more than happy to wait for that.

Just doing a multicolour print that I would have avoided previously due to waste :D
 
This thread upsets me, I have a P1S and now I want a H2C.........

Roughly 200mm more space required though, it would need me to come up with a new location which probably means a new desk too...

It’s a lot of money but I’m very happy with mine! I also had to make a space for it :D

I am really starting to enjoy my H2C. Initially it had a very tough learning curve until I started to find the right profiles and speeds, it prints a lot differently to my P1P. Still finding the "ideal" settings, especially with regards to ironing and PETG interface. Also, always dry your filament!

Now I am making very cool multicolour prints and its so fast vs a single nozzle printer, these are some I printed earlier while experimenting but now I found profiles that work better:

Current heatwave is a pain for managing temps though, need to find a good balance.

I don't currently ever dry my filaments, when I take them out the AMS 2 Pro I normally put them straight in an Ikea tub with the 3d printed desiccant holders in. So far it's holding up well.

I've also got one of those bag sealing kits with the USB-C powered air removal thingy, I don't need it too often as I tend to run my filament down to empty and then buy colours.

It sounds like the H2C learning curve is a lot higher though. :-)

wtf, really, why? Not sure which hosting platform to use then.

I just printed a topographical map of Switzerland in full colour and it is STUNNING, the detail level is incredible even on a 0.4mm nozzle. :eek:

I think it's definitely good to dry filaments when you get them and every 6 or so months afterwards. It improves print quality.

Looks like they were fined due to not confirming with the whole age confirmation thing!

I’ve used ~imgbb~ which worked fine!

My settings are pretty dialled in now but in this crazy weather a little stringing is quite hard to avoid. However, bear in mind that close up images of 3D prints always show imperfections that are almost invisible from regular viewing distances.

The topographic map was all printed in one go and is so beautifully detailed, it's amazing.

EDIT - Great, OCUK blocks ~imgbb~ links too. Sigh. Guess they don't want anyone sharing anything.
